Where are you seeing those odds? Last time I checked, Pinny has Giants +1300, Atlanta +2500 which worked out perfectly to this week's spread.

Crazy they would set it so high in San Fran.

I am going to slam the Niners into oblivion.

Yeah playoff lines aren't like regular season lines. Since you know that every team is playing to win every week, the better teams are often overvalued.

    Really?

I'm sitting with the 49ers to win it all from the beginning of the year and I'm dying to dump it. I have them at 40-1 and I can see them getting bounced in the first game.

Saints are the best overall team atm..they impressed the hell outta me.
GB on the other hand did not, their defense got exposed.

Haven't we had this thread already? Like a said in the last one, the Saints will be -3 or more vs Niners in Frisco. Offer still stands, if SF closes favorite vs the Saints with D Brees, I will buy everyone in this thread the jersey of their choice ( might have to charge a $5 Jesus charge for any Tebow jerseys).

Pretty much the only reason why Saints aren't favored to win the SB is their tough schedule, San Fran is a big dog despite their good position.

Agree LT, but the 9ers will get a little credit in the market for having 2 weeks to prepare for the Saints.

Anybody that doubts the Saints being favorite vs 9ers can just go check out Pinny's SB market. Saints to win SB +454 9ers to win SB +1224 and the Saints have to win an xtra game.

I hear ya on that, and its an excellent point. but what about the saints offensive getting 2 weeks to prepare and break down film on the 49-ers defense. All NO needs to find is like 1-2 exploitable holes in the defense. While the 49-ers need to come up a way to try to contain ALOT of weapons being used in innumerable ways.

I do lean towards the SF coaching staff on this one, as what they've done in 1 year with Alex Smith as the QB is just remarkable.

Harbaugh early candidate for coach of the decade

That would be cool if the Saints had 2 weeks however they have a game this week with the Lions.

Just hope Saints don't win and Brees gets hurt. Who knows, someone might accidentally stomp on him.

I'm getting this bet on 5dimes:

action regardless of who sf plays

    atlanta/giants/saints -3
    niners +3

that's with the chance that niners don't even play saints.

niners will close as dogs if they play saints, probably greater than 3 point dogs.

Looks like it's Saints -3-120/47. And that's after covering and not suffering injuries (as far as I know).

Such a tough game to figure. On the one hand it seems like NO i unstoppable, but on the other most of the unstoppability is at home and SF has the best defense. I think -3-120 is a very solid line. I would take SF if the line was +4.5. I'd take NO at -3+105 or -2.5.

I like 49ers +3, no homer. I have the teams being just about equal on a neutral field and am expecting the Niners to win by a field goal next week.

Niners have 2 weeks to prepare and be rested
    Niners are at home
Niners have a waaaaayyyy better defense
    Brees is a dome quarterback
    Saints struggle on the road
Candlestick Park is hell for opponents in the playoffs
    Niners better coached

    Niners win

Because, adjusting for schedule strength, they had a similar total point differential through the regular season. The Saints are one of only two teams who played a softer schedule than the 49ers this year. I might concede NO a slight edge on a neutral field, but not enough to cover a 7-0-1 ATS home field advantage plus a three point spread. I don't see what's so offensive about thinking they are generally even teams, or remotely comparable to the difference between the Steelers and Broncos.

I'll bet anybody any kind of money that there's a dude in a Niners hoodie on the field at the Stick as I type this watering the s**t out of the grass. Has been for days. It's going to be like playing football in a cornfield after the groundskeepers are done with it.

This game reminds me of the 1996 NFC Divisional playoff game. Cowboys at Panthers

Noone though Carolina would win but they did, they were at home, better defense, etc. Cowboys had the offensive firepower but Carolina was the better team and at home.

    I expect a similar result.

have a big futures bet on SF at +680 to win the NFC.

Why would anybody bet New Orleans that is an NFL buff? The HOME team has the better defense, running game, and special teams (Akers is the best kicker in the NFL). The ROAD team has the better passing offense....... see the problem?

Because Saints may be the best equipped team in the NFL right now to score on SF and Niners are not really equipped to come from behind?

Plus I've always felt that home field is grossly overrated in playoffs, the best teams usually win.

Yes because the better teams won all four games (Broncos outplayed Steelers). I don't think change in venues would have changed any of the winners.

NFL already has Saints/Packers penciled in the title game. The refs are going to have their hands at their hips like gunslingers in the wild wild west ready to fire a flag any time Brees throws an incomplete pass. At least New York has the New York thing going for them. Unless they can gain some sympathy for the 1900 earthquake like New Orleans gets for Katrina, the 49'ers are screwed.

If Pitt was home they would have won.

The other games could possibly have a different winner. You never know.
