    has alot to do with the depression era
    put my uncle in nursing home last year-went to clean out his house he had been saving his tin foil
    never seen so much tin foil
    also 23k in uncashed income tax checkes from years ago (20-30)all wasted
    whole basement lined with coffee cans FILLED with things he picked up (nails,buttons etc)

    One time my Grandma bought double cheeseburgers and then tried to break them up and use a slice of bread to make 2 burgers.

    She would also buy the cheapest frozen pizzas she could find and then put slices of ham and slices of kraft cheese on top. When we'd complain she say "I've seen you eat ham and cheese sandwiches, what's the big deal?"

    She died with hundreds of dollars stashed around the house and a decent bank account, but would try to get us kids to re-use styrofoam paper plates.
