12 points to the first person

That can post the year and a list of all the bowl games.

Spread and final score that all the favorites covered.

It was late 90s or mid 90s.

Every single favorite won and covered.

Werent as many games as there are now.

Think it was about 20 games.

    Every single favorite covered.

I don't know dick about these fukin points besides the fact that Shari takes them away from time to time for bullshit. However I do know that you are clueless if you think that all favorites covered in any 1 bowl season in the 90's. I'm sure I can get Blondie or Shari to send my points your way if you post the proof but you'll be just wasting your time.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Bronxer is correct here as I remember this happening myself - my memory wants to pin it down to the 1999-2001 time-frame although I'm not positive.

I'm looking. It is surprisingly difficult to find archived point spread information.

I'm 100% sure that there was never a year where every bowl favorite covered. Do you know how easy that would be to google if that were the case?

There is little public information on the net regarding historical point spreads...so I'm not sure.

All I'm saying is, the original post definitely struck a nerve. I remember being in high school and doing one of ESPN's bowl pick'ems. You picked the winner straight up, not ATS. Anyway, I picked pretty much all favorites until the New Years Day bowls and up to that point had a chance to win the damn thing. This would've been 10-13 years ago. Admittedly, my memory is not my strong suit but I don't see why me and the OP would have this shared memory if it didn't actually occur...?

i was able to find the historical point spreads going back to 1991-1992 so i have no idea what you're talking about
    regarding little public information.

Upping the ante. I'll give up all my points(I know Bronx, I'm not an SBR Pro lmfao. I'll find a way to get you the points dude.) and I'll send you the NFL jersey of your choice (Tebow jersey I'm sure) if you show proof that every favorite covered in a given bowl season after 1990.

Well, not every favorite outside of Iowa even covered the point spread that year.

And after google searching this topic before, I've never found archived point spread information other than what you just posted. And perusing that site, I can't get historical point spreads for any other sport. Where are you looking?

1997 was 19-1 for the favourites and that as far as I know is the highest winning %age ever.

thanks bronxer. i remember that year well because i was playing mostly chalk at that time and thinking i was smart winning all those bowl game.

fourlengthsclear it depends on which spread you use for auburn/clemson. auburn won by 4 - i think the opening line was 3 and it got pushed up to 5 since all the favorites had been winning big.

Looks like favs went 15-5 that year vs the spread. Mich,Ucla,Auburn,Iowa (the SO loss),and Arizona failed to cover as favorites. Not shabby but far from the 20-0 I was hearing about.

Actually, favorites were 15-5 ATS...Michigan, UCLA, Auburn, Iowa and Arizona all failed to cover as favs. Not to nitpick but favs weren't anywhere near undefeated ATS this year....although this is undoubtedly the year I had in mind.

one thing to remember though, favorites have covered something like 41-22 ATS the last 63 JANUARY bowl games.

so play the underdogs if you want in the early games but usually the class prevails in the big ones

That has felt like the trend for quite some time. There's a good bit of logic to support these results as well which makes this trend a lot stronger than the avg trend you see. It makes sense that in the early bowl games, the dog is a lot more excited about the bowl than the favorite is. The favorite probably had aspirations of a better bowl and instead ended up in the Independence Bowl to play some jerkoff team they've never heard of. However when you get to the January bowls, you now have games where both teams are equally excited about the games giving the favorites a better chance to hold true to form.

But there were 4 other favs that didn't cover according to the lines given on that page.

Mich, ucla, aub, ariz - won SU, lost ATS

edit: sorry -- didn't see this was already posted

Things have really switched around in recent years. Betting underdogs SU in bowl games used to be money.
