NBA commissioner Adam Silver believes expanded legalized sports betting in the U.S. is "inevitable," and the league is open to participating in it.

Adam Silver sounds like a straight hustler:
"If you have a gentleman's bet or a small wager on any kind of sports contest, it makes you that much more engaged in it," Silver said. "That's where we're going to see it pay dividends. If people are watching a game and clicking to bet on their smartphones, which is what people are doing in the United Kingdom right now, then it's much more likely you're going to stay tuned for a long time."
I can't believe he'd say that. David Stern is rolling over in his grave.

He must have gotten a flash drive delivered to him from Sterling with spreadsheets of his off shore accounts and text messages screenshotted between himself and players officials coinciding with said wagers. Payback's a bitch

He's absolutely right. Their regular season is like baseballs in that it's too fukkin long and had too many meaningless games. Can you imagine a packed house with a game with a -20 line and the whole place erupts at the end when some 3rd string center busts a 3 pointer to get the over?

Sports gambling should be legalized but the NBA should not get involved with the actual "business" of gambling.
Everyone will be crying about fixed games.
But Silver is right about gambling creates more viewership. I still watch blowout games to the end for the final total.

It's an obvious business move, especially for the NBA.
The religious fukko's fueled by some fukked off interest group will oppose. The bible will be thumped.
The gambling demographic will dominate over the loss of the "moral objection" twinks. NBA arenas will be damn near the best venue in sports overnight. No shit.
Went to the PAC-12 tourney the last two years, easily top 3 favorite sporting events EVER. I've been to a few, in most sports. College basketball dominated simply because I could walk to the counter, put down what the fukk ever I wanted to, and then walk back to my seat - and instantly find people on the same side as me and against me - and the banter alone was fukkin epic in close games.
It's a sportsbook on steroids essentially. This needs to happen.

I don't care about the NBA, but if it helps bring sports betting to my local race track or casino, I'm all for it. I think we all realize this is going to happen; there's too much money for it NOT to happen. But, of course, when you get the government involved, it'll be done in some screwball fashion.

Give this about 3 more full years. You'll have STATE sports gambling machines like "lottery machines" soon. Once more governors read what Silver just said... it will open their eyes. You want more money for the STATE? Then do sports wagering. Honestly... the lines will be much more predictable. You thought there were SHARPS in VEGAS? Watch what happens when STATE's do Sports Wagering Electronically... you'll be able to find "gains". All of us have the education the past 10+ years of our lives doing this... we should be able to use our brains to make a decent income if the States got involved.

Silver is a jerk0ff that is talking out of both sides of his mouth
he is a lawyer who has worked for the NBA for 20+ years and the NBA was just party to a lawsuit less than a year ago where they were vehemently opposed to legalizing sports betting in New Jersey.
