You are right whoever said you can't watch a random game and enjoy it after betting for years every day, it sucks.

Here's a funny story, went up to the casino one night with my whole paycheck after work. We went to play some poker, I did ok grinded for 3 hours and lost 30 bucks. It was time to go, my buddy walked out the door.. I'm on my way behind him. Figure one hand of blackjack to make some profit, I throw a hundred down bet 40. lose that, bet 100, lose that, bet 200 lose that, bet another 200, get 20, dealer draws to 21. Sumthin like that, lost the whole check 600 bucks. Last time I played blackjack. That was the one and only time I ever did that...

They say the one problem most of us sports gamblers have is we feel we need to make a call on every game? I think I don't have to , but most games I do. But I lock into one game and research the hell out of it, and think I have an edge or a strong feeling about what will happen. They say don't bet unless you have an edge, how do you know when you have an edge on a bet?
You sir have a gambling PROBLEM. You are ADDICTED. I also think that you are a terrible Joe Public square handicapper too, which doesn't help your cause. You are an action junkie, and be honest, the action is what gets you going. In the back of your mind you know you won't cash out a dime, yet the thrill and high you get from watching the game you bet is what gets you off. You even said you've made 2 cash outs in the last 6 years. Seek Help

I reloaded, I wanted to bet the Seahawks all day long and couldn't pull the trigger. Ended up going all-in on the Columbus Blue Jackets, they were down 3-1 with 5 minutes left in game. I gave up all hope, was feeling down as sh*t.. went and washed the dishes and took the trash out looked at the moon thinking fukkk my life.

Came back inside jumped on the computer and saw 3-3 end of OT, and watched the shootout.. HOLY Fukk games like that and wins like that is what keep you going. I'm not quiting boys, you all are right.. but I am going to not be crazy and realize what I did in the past didn't work and will be changing my strategy and look at it as entertainment purposes.

Don't run when you are scared, Don't cry when it hurts... Nobody likes a crybaby.

I was once very much in your shoes until I figured out what my problem was. The truth is you have a losing problem and NOT a gambling problem. Nobody has a problem with winning, but losing everybody has a problem with. You should know what you are doing does not work by now and you should walk away for at least a 3 months. I gambled from age 19 -25 with very little to no success and walked away for about 1 year. I was a loser, but I came back with a different perspective and different ideas and was willing to start very small and be creative. Winning is a good thing, but it can only be accomplished with the proper perspective. Once you gain some momentum and have money the sky is the limit. Don't bet scared money, scared money never wins and if you do ever become successful at sports gambling there is still a price to be paid. I would suggest you get out of gambling because there are better and easier ways to make real money, but if you are like me it was never about the money... Money is just the way the score is kept and I do it to win.(not money, but winning in general) Successful gambling also means boring gambling and most are not willing to confront that reality. It is a process that takes discipline and the ability to reset your brain and learn a better way. good luck.

This is why you will continue to wake up to $0 account balances. You have zero discipline! How can you reload and then immediately go all in on a hockey play? I bet you feel like a million bucks right now, just reloaded and hit a +110 dog on an all-in play-- show me some cash. Oh right, it's tied up in an offshore book. So you're account is credited however much you won, but we all know you will give it right back tomorrow. Or Saturday. And if not, probably Sunday. You said it yourself-- gambling for 6 years on a regular basis and you've withdrawn twice? History shows you have a pattern of reloading, running up a nice balance, then losing it all. What's gonna be different this time?

Discipline is key, brotha, but just judging by your posts in this thread, you're gonna go bust many many many more times before you make any changes.

I have a lot to say on this issue. First off, I keep track of my losses. I'm down $77,000 since October 2007. However, I was also down $77,000 on April 1, when baseball started and gambled basically everyday. I probably averaged $750 per bet. Keep in mind, I'm a regular dude living on his own with a good workers salary. Not rich or anything. The op reminds me of myself, except I load up w $1000 and get to over $10,000 only to blow it all countless times. But I do occasionally cashout. What happened to me recently was mind boggling. I was doing well about a month ago and had a healthy balance of $13,000 in my account. I ended up losing it all in like 3 games. I made my biggest bet ever $6,700 on the Packers versus the Vikings. Their first matchup. GB was in trouble first half and then took a commanding lead in the second half. I was up and the Packers had the ball towards the end of the 3rd qtr. Next thing I know, rookie Ponder is converting every 3rd down. Then there was a bs roughing the passer penalty and boom!! TD, done!!! I was numb and physivcally sick. Lost the whole $13,000. I stopped gambling for 20 days. I was depressed, ate like a fat bastard, went to massage parlors, slept constantly, banged in sick to work, etc. So, I started gambling and reloaded with $1000, and won Stanford/Oregon game. I then took all of that cash and put it on NO over Falcons. Then I took the balance of that (about $4500) and won Pats/Jets. I continiued building my bankroll and hit big a couple weeks ltr on Stanford/ND. I had $15,700 balance. Then I loved the Bills Money Line on Sunday. Put over a nickel on it and a nickel w the points. The Bills lost bc of a miracle. It sent me into a frenzy. In my head, I counted that as a huge win, although I technically didn't lose- I couldn't handle it. So, I put $2000 on the Chargers, they lose. Another game that could of went either way. Now, I'm drunk at the bar. So, I say Fuk it and put like $4500 on the Steelers versus Palko. Somehow the Palkos covered and I'm pissed!!! Now my balance was $8,800 and I put $3000 on the Giants ML (a horrible bet, I felt like I would be disloyal to the Giants and couldn't bet against them). Really dumb. Anyway, I actually cashed out $5,800, and got banged for a huge fee. I went from a potential $20,000 balance to $5,800 because of a few plays that could of went either way. But, that's gambling. Not to brag, I have a lot going for me and I get a ton of ass. That doesn't matter JJ. All I could say to this OP is get out before your $20 bets turn into $500 bets. And there was a lot of smart posts to learn from. I have to say, you look like a jackass posting about quitting and then bragging about some dumb hockey win. Learn from guys on here who know a little more about this addiction than you. And good luck

I wasn't bragging Comingback! Was just giving some people something to laugh at or be entertained by my sickness. Nuthing to brag about, and yep that sounds like some shit that happened to me. I actually had 1100 built up after a 30 $ dollar deposit last month, the Chargers are what killed that bankroll. I unloaded my last 473 on em second half vs Broncos in Denver, then came in the mighty Tebow second half and Norv and Phil didn't produce shit after wiping the floor with em first half. I was in a sick state of mind that weekend and shouldn't have been betting, but I have learned from it. Lost 1100 in about 5 hours. What is sicker is I do end up betting 500 a game after a 20-50 $ deposit.

If you are going to gamble, you have to get the idea of "all-in" completely out of your head. Overbetting will destroy even very good handicappers. Work out and stick to a sensible staking plan.

If you can't do that, you are going to end up busting out time after time after time..............

Oh sure, you will have a great run now and again, and you might be able to run up that $800 to 10 or 20k and you will feel like a gambling God for a few days but as sure as night follows day you will give it back again and end up feeling like you did when you wrote the OP.

If betting sensible amounts based on your bankroll doesn't give you the 'rush' that you need, then you still need to stop.

Fill up your bathtub full of water, and drop a plugged in item into it. Make sure that the plugged in item is not hooked up to an outlet that will shut off if a sudden surge is hit. Advice is free.

Wow! This sounds exactly like something i would write myself. I just decided myself this week to kick this habit. I have spent far too much time money and anxiety on sports gambling. Here is my idea on how to quit....I am going to still gamble but only using play money. I am going to start with an imaginary $1000 float. I will still look at the lines and bet with my play money. I am going to try to reach $10,000. That is my goal. Of course it is all just play money, but it might still be fun to see if I can get to my goal. If I don't get to my goal and just keep losing, I am only losing play money. If I reach my goal of $10,000 it will be a challenge met. I know it is not the same rush as real gambling, but I think overall I can still have fun and make things somewhat interesting. Beats yelling at the tv all day and watching my bank balance disappear.
