Is Penn State even a top 20 program?

    I can name

Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, USC, Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Boise, Wisconsin, Nebraska

before I get to even thinking about Penn State. That's 17.

Then there's Arkansas, Iowa, Miami, Washington, TCU, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and numerous others than are in the discussion as to who the next 3 are.

They haven't done anything of significance in over a decade. The Penn State job doesn't suck, but it isn't nearly as good as many let it on to be.

no. but good defense still. nebraska might struggle being so one-dimensional on offense.

ummm, not a PSU fan here, but, you might want to check PSU record since the start of the 2005 season. from then until now, they are a top 20 program.

No, Penn State is not a top 20 program of Prestige for athletics-hasn't been for 30 years.

All those schools you've mentioned(exception TCU) have been places that high school recruits would rather play at than Penn State.
    TCU is debatable.

Penn State has always been one of those schools that never really ruined a good team's season. If your favorite team lost to PSU, that just meant your favorite sports team kinda sucked. Your favorite team probably needed to rebuild.

also your list is very debatable,

michigan, the last so many years, top 20, not even close.
notre dame (i am a ND fan): not good lately
    miami hurricanes: really
washington huskies: u mean basketball right?
    tennessee: thats a joke right?
georgia: coach was about to get fired because they havent been winning enough.
    fsu: coach was fired lately.

yes they Were a top program- that is why he said still. Does that top program ranking status endure to this year- currently. right now are they a top program. not 8 graduating classes ago; right now.

but i see what you mean because he worded it program instead of team.

no, their lackluster offense, zero wins against currently ranked teams and 100th ranking in points for. that is the right now i mean.

they are obviously 8-1 because of their schedule. and ive watched about 4 of their games this year. maybe 3. they are trash and their QB can not throw. their defense is legit.

Heard this today on Colin Cowherd. Penn st is kind of culty. The whole "we are" thing and just the people who went to school there have this my shit don't stink attitude. Maybe that will change after this debacle. I don't think they will ever be what they were in the 1980's ever again.

    Before this week , absolutely.

now they will never get another recruit and the big 10 should trade them to the big east

If you look at the Money Magazine rankings...Penn State was listed as the 3rd most valuable in regards to financial business...I think that will change in the coming years. I would guess Penn State overall sports program would probably be a Top 20 program, but as a football program I would say Top 15....it has slipped badly over the last 5 years

Bobby Bowden wasn't really 'fired' it was just time for him to go. I think you are using the wrong terminology there.

This year Penn St is a borderline top 10 team

No doubt they are not a factor anymore on national scene
