When they are proven irresponsible with such a magnituse of wealth and show they cant be trusted then maybe it is time to look at the 'greed is good' mantra...
If a country like Poland can go after the people responsible for the bankruptcy of their system, only to bounce back and within 5 years be one of the fastest growing economies in the world then why arent you lot able to do something similar??

Complexity difference in the two is important. Still waiting to hear someone on the pro-hike side inform us as to where exactly the extra $$ is supposed to come from in order to increase payrolls. Today's hike by Obama is simple, he'll just borrow it - meaning probably a net loss once interest payment on updated debt is accounted for- something the rest of the private sector can't do when planning.
It's just a negative plan of action all the way around except for the political ploy. This is the insanity of govt operations vs private sector...no incentive to have a net gain on the govt side with anything. Doesn't add up so what, sounds like a fun thing to do, lets go for it! I'm all for targeting the politicians, pay based on accomplishments not votes. And the 'powerless' are the morons who keep voting in this crowd. I say we have voters pass a basic test to prove competency of issues and govt before allowing their vote to go forward. Too much at stake to allow idiots to choose who gets to call the shots.
