This is so simple, yet so effective. You Uhmurkuns wonder what has happened to your economy. You SOLD IT OUT, that's what happened. produce most of these things on their own. The US thinks they were smart when they outsourced their manufacturing base to the lowest bidder. They were completely oblivious to the repercussions of the long term affects of such decisions.

I've taken many economics courses. I can tell you that IN THEORY, what you are saying is correct. However, IN REALITY, you see what has happened when countries produce goods they are efficient at producing. It leads to the destruction of jobs in nations that have lost those industries.

By the way, you are confusing EFFICIENCY with CHEAPNESS. The only reason why the USA shipped off their manufacturing to other nations is because they could produce it cheaper, not more efficiently. The USA is actually still a very efficient nation, the problem is that Americans would rather have cheap goods than goods that are slightly more expensive with a greater quality.
