Carp reminded me of Jamie moyer tonight...threw a lot of junk, and it was exactly what this phills team can't hit.. he is a very good pitcher, but anymore, he is definately not in the elite category. I personally believe wainwright is the best on that staff. I am looking forward to see how carp performs vs the brewcrew.. Maybe he will change my view on him

Let Verlander pitch a postseason game without giving up 4 or more runs before you crown him. Guy is a regular season ace, terrible in the playoffs.

Have you watched him in the post season? Come on now, even as a homer you cant say he's the best. Like i said, how about ONE playoff game where he doesnt get rocked for 4 or more before we crown him?

    Paco...You're better than that.

These facts have no correlation to the quality of an individual pitcher.

    Why not?

    A no-no means nothing bro?

    Verlander has multiple.

No one can throw 120+ pitches on a regular day and at 100 mph on his 100th pitch like jv:

I like Kershaw, but he ain't no Verlander. Not yet

Paco did you watch him against the yanks? He gave up 4 to a dismal offense. He's given up 5 in 9 innings already to go along with his past 6.00 ERA in the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong 100 MPH is filthy. I'm a huge Verlander fan.

But A no-no is not an individual accomplishment. The BAIBP stat comes into play

When clowns like Dallas Braden throw a perfect game it just cements the fact that they had luck on their side that day.

    Either way.......

lets see how the guy does vs. a quality offensive team, not a turrible one. everyone on the brewers is on there game, gomez, plish, braun, yuni b, harriston, lucroy is the only one really struglging but his defensive is great .
cant wait to see us beat the cards. all seaosn they bitched and bitched and bitch, they were given a playoff spot by atl, and then phily decided to not score any runs by taking a terrible approach making a good pitich(now in his career) look great.

    its on stl. its on.

Best pitcher in baseball? Let's not get carried away. He shutout an impotent Phillies lineup. Other than that first inning, Halladay outpitched him. Carpenter's a decent starter but not even in the top 5 starters in the league.

    Best pitcher, certainly not.
Drafted him in my rotisserie league- had to cut him by late May, he was killing my team.

that is not incredible. 9 IP , 3 hits and no run. Against Phillies! There are a lot of game Phillis had only one run or nothing. Already they are not good at hitting.

Jason Vargas (9,0IP no run 3 hits ) and Ian Kennedy (9,0 IP no run and 3 hits) have same performance against Phillies.
Who is the best? Definitly very good pitcher but nobody can become "the best" with only one game

Philies, choked tonight on offense lets be honest. Carptenter was good for Saint Louis, but did he have shut out stuff. Just terrible approaches by their middle of the order. Can't wait to see him pitch game 3 vs. Gallardo, and game 7 if there is one. Just have to beat the cards in 7 games to be in the world series. its actually a possibility its just some some far out thing, its right here. Brewers don't **** this up. Melvin will go down as making the best GM moves of all time if we actually some how win it all.

Wow, talk about drinking the Kool-Aid...

Now look, I may be a Cardinals fanatic, but for you to shortsale the accomplishments of the Cardinals against the behemoth Phillies is 'turribly' short sighted.

You seem to think the Brew-Crew is just going to roll over the Cards like they're minor leaguers, I can't wait to see how fast your attitude changes after we're knee-deep in this series.

I agree that on paper Milwaukee is the superior team (only with Wainwright out, otherwise the edge is flipped), but how has that worked out this year so far for the Phillies, the Yankees, the Red Sox?

I think the Cards bring more passion to the table, and use it to win out in the end, in a series that may go 6 or 7 games.
