    Just some [extended] thoughts

Well I guess I withdrew at the right time. I think I am 1-7 on last 8 posted plays. With not much sports betting I figure there is no need for me to post. I think I'll say a few things though.

    On players talk:

I'd like to say how it is turning into a fukkin joke with all these new kids coming around, but lets face it, it has always been a joke. Its just busier now. I don't think SBR is making much more money though because most are broke kids coming over from NVG, BBV, and the bodybuilding forum. But sooner or later they will get a job, deposit money, SBR will be linked to their account and will be doing well off them.

    On betpoints:

Its a new concept with no model to follow. They have had to tweak things here and there which is to be expected. But in my opinion, they are giving away way too many points in contests. 10,000/week and 5,000 for 1st in the Legends Best Bet contest is way too generous and the same can be said for BTP/daily poker tourneys.

Things could definitely be cut down in this area to make the parlay odds even with those of 5dimes at bookmaker again. Since SBR is taking deposits for points, I would think they'd atleast have the parlay chart and max payouts listed in the book. What sportsbook doesn't have this information readily available to the customer?

So basically, I'd say cut the amount given away in contests and keep the sportsbook on even terms.

Oh yea and I agree with ProfaneReality. Stop letting non-pros freeroll you for thousands of points then turn pro to cash out way more than $200 that they didn't want to pony up in the first place. Seems like an obvious decision to me.

And I still do think the poker decision was a bad move.
But again, its relatively new and big changes are bound to happen especially in the beginning.

    On Fantasy:

Again SBR is being too generous, this time in the SBR store. The Fantasy Cash is priced way too low. In fact, I think it is almost equal to the sportsbook amounts. The thing is, these fantasy sites are guaranteed to make only around 20% on your "purchase" (since its 2x rollover) whether you win or lose. When you bought sportsbook cash, the sportsbook got way more than 20% of the purchase on it. I hate to say it, but the price of this should be raised.

And another thing, I like Draftstreet the best, but come on atleast be competitive with the other 2 instead of offering a freeplay for about 10-20 less points. Who would buy that?

On JJ not being a pro:

How can you fukks not understand it? JJ isn't a pro that way he can't transfer more than 2 points. He'd always have people asking for points...this way he can't fukkin transfer to you. Its not that hard to understand.

    On Yankees:

Alot of people are hating the Yankees and Red Sox but I really wonder why? If you were the best baseball player would you not want the most possible money with the best chance to win championships? Seems like an obvious choice to me.

The teams that I hate the most are the owners that sit back and collect a fukkin paycheck only. Check the link on most profitable teams during 09-10, Marlins topped the fukkin list. Bet you didn't realize that.
    http://baseball.realgm.com/src_wiret...its_and_losses

My team, the Pirates, are a fukkin bottom dweller..except the owner?

    Quoted :

There's nothing wrong with a baseball team turning a profit. What is wrong is a baseball team that cries poor while posting 18 consecutive losing seasons turning a profit. This difference is why the Pittsburgh Pirates, whose financial data from 2007 and 2008, the 15th and 16th of those seasons, was made public on Monday, are the target of such recrimination. While positioning themselves as the victim of "the system" and trading away an entire starting lineup, the Pirates have been one of the most profitable teams in MLB, pocketing $29.3 million in 2007 and '08 combined, years in which they cashed revenue-sharing checks for a whopping $69.3 million. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...ces/index.html

You have to blame the owners. Why would anyone in Pittsburgh or Florida (among others) go support a team that is not competitive just so the owners can pocket more money? Fukk them

    That's all for now.

    I agree.

Give Pro's separate contests that give out more points. Leave the Non-Pros with smaller contests that give out piddly shit. I realize SBR is making it so they have to sign up at books for the contests which benefits them and the books.

But I just say take all points away, and that'll remove half of the people from here....Or just remove the points for non-pro's, or for people that signed up after the points were involved.

It's fun to rag on people, it passes time during our work days. But it does get annoying seeing the same BS every single day. I'd much rather read interesting threads that give out thoughts on games than read half of the horseshit threads posted.

I think I'll just use this thread for 90% of my posts.

The under would've cashed yesterday on number of beers, but today might be a different story.

    On SBR getting into fantasy:

I think I saw somewhere that about 80% or so of the people that visit SBR are from America. It seems like a great thing for SBR to get into but on second thought I'm having my doubts.

You don't make money by people losing to you. You only get money on the "rake" and SBR gets who knows what percent on that. In poker that number is huge, but there is no real potential for it in fantasy at this point unless daily sports really takes off. Let's say there is $10,000 in action a day at a site (real high estimate imo), the site "only" makes $1,000 and SBR only gets a percentage of that (don't forget the money they might lose in GPP's that don't fill up). If they were to add a whole new website to "review" these sites, it would cost too much for the profit being made at this point.

    On Reverse Line Movement:

I always said don't rely on that only, but its a good starting point. I first started sports betting online around 2003 and on the CBS messageboards. I'm not sure where he is now, but H3llboy was the big time capper there and he's the one that hinted at RLM and that's when I started looking at it in depth. Every year it has gotten worse and worse and I really think its because it is getting out in the open. It pisses me off to see threads about it and the only reason I state I have involved in my plays is because people will think they are breaking new ground by realizing it and stating it for everyone to see.

Whats next? People will realize to fade a ranked team on the road that is an underdog facing an unranked team in CBB..oops

    On my picks this week:

I won't post places that I don't bet which is why I haven't posted much. I am very confident in these 4 plays though. I only created a few threads that might be considered as cocky last year, this would be 1 of them this year. Fade if you want, but I highly recommend atleast betting points on these 4

Broncos +4 ---tied for best play I'll ever have
    Oregon State ML
    Arkansas -10
    Boston College +21

    I agree.

But what do you expect when 95% of the threads in here are "horseshit"? Like I said, I'd rather read peoples thoughts than see 400 "lock" threads a day. I'd rather see someone post a pick with some "thoughts" on why it should win instead of just saying "miami heat ML"

I see that you highlighted exactly what I just said above...Shouldn't be hard to understand, but since you've seen alot of my posts, you would realize I don't jump into random peoples threads just bashing people, right?

    what is stfu?

I don't think posting why matters much.

If someone says I think Patriots will cover because the Raiders safeties suck...don't you think something as simplistic as this has already been factored in the line...especially towards the end of the line when the sharps have already placed their bets?

I don't think I've ever seen a great writeup..its all fluff if you ask me. People just make up bs reasons to make themselves seem smart when its the most basic thing I've ever heard.

If you tell me you saw Brady throwing up last night I would take that into consideration greatly, but telling me the Raiders suck on defense does nothing if you ask me.

yes. denver is the best play. i wouldnt waste my time with anything else i post this week.

its all relative how much i have on it though...I use to be alot more than I do now.. would you be more impressed if I said $2500 or 25% of roll?

    On Trap Games:

Yes I believe they exist. But people really have no clue how they work. Funny how its always a road favorite that is a trap game in people's minds. All you have to do is this basic test: See what the line is now, add or minus 6 points and pretend the game is now at the other site.

For instances, Philly is "only" 2.5 favorites at Buffalo. But would Philly be around 8.5 favorites at Philly? Ofcourse it'd be something similar if not LOWER. Calling this a "trap" game would be ridiculous. It doesn't always work like this, but its a basic way to spot it out in the beginning and decide if its worth looking into it more.
