    Obscure hometown sports heroes....

    Since we dont have a pro team here, we tend to hang onto our college athletes for a long time. Some pretty obscure and somewhat unknown athletes are viewed as heroes around here.

    Owen Schmitt
    Joe Herber
    Major Harris
    Mike Gansey....to name a few, but none are bigger than:

    Kevin Pitsnogle



    Who are some of you guys' local sports heros?

    We also had Mary Lou Retton, Jerry West, Hack Wilson, Phil Niekro, George Brett, Randy Moss and many others....I'm talking guys who never made it, but remain heroes

    Ive lived in nothing but big cities my whole life...NYC/LA/MIA. We dont have that problem around here

    Somewhat obscure Boston legend/hero is Johnny Pesky.

    My hometown doesn't really have any obscure heros Matt "The Red Rocket" Bonner is from a neighboring town.
