Hey Guys it’s all about the learning curve, in the future I will have these up on Fridays and save the tidbits and musing for Saturday morning Coffee with Geno. In the meantime, here are five winners to take on to my BYU pick from last night
Texas A&M -4.5 vs Okla State
The OSU Cowboys come into this game undefeated while averaging over 600 yards and nearly 53 points a game but that has come against “powerhouses” like Tulsa and LA Lafayette—wasn’t that where they filmed the Waterboy? Please forgive me—not OSU fans but simply for mentioning an Adam Sandler movie. In any case, a real challenge faces the boys from Stillwater today in Texas A&M. The Aggies tout one of the nation’s best defenses and have an explosive runner in Cyrus Gray whole will face a struggling Cowboys run defense that has been pounded by more young men than Madonna in the 90’s… and unlike Madonna, the OSU defense will eventually wear down

Alabama -11 vs. Arkansas
College football games are like photographing Kirstie Allie—you never know when they are going to show up on your schedule carrying a lot of weight—so better keep your focus at all times. This early season SEC matchup is exactly that it carries Championship implications. See, while most of the nation—and several federal investigator’s—are looking at LSU’s offense and the Crimson Tide, the #14 Razorbacks who have a chance to sneak into the conversation with a big W here. Yes the Tide will roll in this one, but the razorbacks will not Roll over so why not make like Dancing with the Stars did with Kirstie Allie and ride a hog to the bank.

LSU-6 at West Virginia
WVU’s Geno Smith—something I like about that name—has been explosive this season (70% completion percentage, 7 TD’s/1 INT) thanks to new coach Dana Holgorsen’s heavily favored passing system. They face Les Mile’s LSU offense which comes from the other direction featuring the power rushing of Spencer Ware and Michael Ford—both of whom are averaging over 4 yards per carry and have 7 touchdowns combined.
Bottom line is that these are two amazing college football teams—and they oughta be—I mean when you think higher education you’re not rushing off to the mountains of West Virginia or the Bayou—unless your major is cousin Husbandry. That said, it doesn’t take a genius to know LSU’s ground game will tire out the Mountaineer defense until a desperate Geno throws a costly pick or three.

Quick Picks
Florida State at No.21 Clemson (-2.5)
While the Tigers are distracted by the ACC’s adding of Syracuse this week making this the last year those obnoxious orange uni’s will be the talk of the conference. But I see Florida State suffering a bit of a letdown after last weeks near miss to the #1 Sooners.

California at Washington Pick ‘em
The Golden Bears of California are undefeated but that doesn’t mean anything. Last week they beat Presbyterian college. Exactly… if you can tell me where that college is take the Golden Bears, otherwise make like last call and take home a Husky.
