    Urban Meyer to replace JoePa?

Hmmmm.....makes a lot of sense...met with PSU brass during an ESPN piece

Doesn't Urban Meyer meet with everyone he covers for ESPN now since this is part of his job duties?

Why would you leave a job in the greatest conference known to man with all of the system in place as far as recruiting and player development.....only to go to a week and failing conference at a school who has no shot at competing in the near future?

That's extreme speculation plus Joe Pa gonna be the coach till he's dead.....he probably would be the coach from a rest home and they would conference him in....for real

Not sure he meets with the AD and University President everywhere he goes...but would be a big lift for PSU to politely replacing Joe.

Lots of grumbling over the last couple of weeks with JoePa up in the box, especially this past week hiding behind mirror glass and wasn't seen the entire game on ESPN. Trying to get the Penn State brand out there, recruiting, etc. has become such a joke that JoePa lovers are starting to turn, which is not good. With his contract up they don't want to give him the Bobby Bowden treatment, but he's giving them no choice.

It is really a sensitive subject around PSU, listen in to Sportstalk radio around that area. They love the guy, and want him around to honor his legacy, but he's fading and it's killing the program. Years ago JoePa could walk into a school and seal the deal, now he doesn't even travel anymore. PSU packs almost 110,000 fans into Beaver Stadium, and someone like Meyer could energize the fanbase and boosters, bring in more $$, and recruiting would improve. Penn State used to nail 5 star recruits, especially any player in the Northeast was a lock. Today, they bring in mediocre talent 3/4 star at best. Sad part is Paterno doesn't understand that he's fading, and no one has the balls to tell him.

Urban Meyer has been campaigning for the PSU job from noon to 3:30 the last 3 saturdays on the family of networks. selling that upright, coaches-shouldn't-swear horseshit. he wants that job bad. PSU would love to have him too, but they need Joe Pa to walk away. God love the guy, he's killing that program.

I wouldn't go as far to call Florida a "Mecca" of football....it's all about $$:

Joe doesn't travel, the offensive coordinator won't travel to recruit. Jay Paterno is supposed to recruit Ohio, he mailed that job in a while ago and was replaced by another staff member to recruit Ohio earlier this year. The guy complains all the time about how being a coach takes time away from his family and that's when he's not trying to be a politician on the side, playing on twitter or facebook. After the Illinois game last year when we got our teeth kicked in, we had a bye week, where's Jay during the week off? Not helping the team try to get better, not spending time with the family he never gets to see, instead he was out stumping for a politician the entire time in another part of the state. One of the co-offensive line coaches has been talked out of retirement a few times by Joe, the other is best buds with Jay and isn't worried about his job. Most of these guys just hang around for a paycheck because there is zero accountability on the offensive side of the ball. Three games, ZERO TD passes, great job guys

The only ones who put in any real work are the defensive coaches and the WR coach Mike McQueary, and most of them inquired about other jobs over this past off season. They are the only thing holding this team up right now and it's just sad. Love Joe, but it's way past time to go. I'd love to get Myer but won't get my hopes up. Guess I kind of got on a rant there, my apologies, but I feel better now.

Came up through ND as an assistant and he has stated it would be. I've never heard OSU. He would have gone there after Utah if ND had their sh*t together at the time and taken him.

Penn State football needs a major rejuvenation. Golden was the hire that they needed because he brings a lot of energy and is a very good recruiter.

He left because he can't handle all the activities and won't be coaching again. And he will never coach at ND.

I wouldn't say never because you never know. With that said he didn't like all the "extra activities" and the press box is a plush job. You have to assume it's hard to get away from. See Gruden, Cowher, Billick et al.
