I would go over there when I would go to the LVH. It was faster for me to get to the LVH by taking the 215 highway and exiting Sahara, than going Sunset Blvd and going north on Las Vegas Blvd and having to deal with the lights, pedestrians, and traffic. I swear each time I would be at that intersection the same crack addict lady was panhandling there, with no teeth. She made the same face as she went up to each car, a sad attempt at a puppy dog face and then mouthing "Please"
Vegas advice?

#38What days are you going? Check sites like Hotwire, Priceline, Kayak every day as the rates change each day. I once got a deal at the Hard Rock, 4 nights for $38 a night. But the day before and the day after it was $69 a night. It changes. Also had a similar deal at the Palms. I know that those are off strip, but you can get good deals at places on the Strip as well in that price range, like the Flamingo. Hotwire doesn't show you the name of the hotel on their hot rates, but its not hard to guess which hotel it actually is. If you need me to, I can guess for you.Comment -

#42The only casinos I would not stay at that are on the strip are Excalibur, Circus Circus, Stratosphere, and the Quad. I would be OK with anything else. Luxor is pretty cheap if you are looking for a low price, and its not bad at all. LVH is not on the strip but I have stayed there before and it isn't bad, I just don't like the smell of the casino/sportsbook area. Smells like a public gas station restroom.Comment -

LVH is an epic book, but the casino patrons themself remind me of a biker convention.
That said, I have rarely ever gone to LVH to make bets. Far more accessible books, and I don't pretend I'm some pro dropping dimes on games.
My action will be taken by every shithole on the strip.Comment -

#48You can probably get Luxor for the same price as Excalibur, may be a little bit more, but it is much nicer and better, and won't have to deal with kids everywhere. Don't listen to the badmouthers about Luxor, it is perfectly fine. Also you can get the Flamingo for a cheap price, it will be more expensive than Excalibur up front, but there is no resort fee so it may actually be cheaper in the long run. If you are on a hotel budget, Luxor/Flamingo are your best bets on the strip. If you are willing to stay at the Excalibur, those 2 are in the same price range but are far better.Comment -

#51Makes sense due to the LVH. I only get there early to put in my bets, so no idea what that place is like at night except for a very few times.

Great place to place bets. Lines are usually a bit more favorable, plus they had -105 Thursdays, reverse run lines in baseball, lots of betting options, most amount of parlay/teaser cards. When I lived there each Thursday Night I would fill out 100 teaser/parlay cards for $3 each(which is why people make fun of me on this site) but at ridiculous odds with a high number of teams, so they were essentially lottery tickets. Hit a 12 team teaser at 250:1 last year one week last year which was the biggest win. It would take me like 3 or 4 hours but it was something fun to do.
HOWEVER.... horrible place to watch the games. Ugly cocktail waitresses, and all the local broke dick degens go there to watch the games. Too many characters there, and weirdos. Especially one guy last year who I referred to as Mullet Guy. He looked like Kenny Powers, and acted like he knew everything. Would have tons of books, sheets, almanacs, etc.
Placing bets there is one thing, watching games is another. To watch, I'll go to a classier book like Mandalay Bay or MGM with a better smell and without the riff raff.
LVH is nice for placing bets. And you are right about the casino patrons. A hybrid of a nursing home and biker convention.Comment -

#53Forget Expedia or Kayak. 99% of the time Priceline or Hotwire will have the best rates. Most likely Priceline if you go with bidding.Originally posted by Dark HorseIf with religion you mean belief system, your belief system is your religion. Again, it matters not what it is. Left Las Vegas... was bored and tired with the work I was doing there. I loved the city, and everything, but hated the work I was doing.

Also check out a burger joint called Tommy's. There is one in the Henderson area from what I remember. They are only in Nevada/California but man I miss that place. They put Chili on all their burgers and somehow it tastes really good.Comment -

nice. I knew Owensboro had an airport like that. Only goes to FLorida but nice to know. The only place I'd fly out of is Nashville. Hour drive and nowhere else I know of in KY has consumer airportsComment -

#63You are a group of guys, 2-3 even. As long as you aren't a walking vagina, I wouldn't worry about it.
However, the walk down Trop alongside the MGM, between Tropicana (hotel) and Hooters is probably one of the shittiest parts of the strip. I actually think one of the tunnels that connects to the entire underground indigent community living under las vegas is right around that area.
Usually encounter a few loud mouth tweekers everytime I am in that area. But, I am not of small stature and have welcomed confrontation with these shitstains in the past. They're simply high as fukk, and are running their mouths.
Just think of it as every other walk downtown after dark. It isn't a college town vibe, but it sure as shit isn't the South Side of Chicago either.
That said, I'd really just get a cab. It's not much.Comment -

#64Oh and dont fly Allegiant (generally a good idea to avoid most of Brock's advice), they're a mickey mouse shop that will tack on charges for everything (including carry-on bags) that make the prices end up a lot higher than they tell ya.Originally posted by Dark HorseIf with religion you mean belief system, your belief system is your religion. #68If you want to figure out the hotel first betterbidding.com is a good tool. I've used it quite a bit and can make pretty solid predictions of what the hotel would be based on price, amenities, etc. I've saved 60/70 bucks a night bidding instead of just taking what they show you.Originally posted by Dark HorseIf with religion you mean belief system, your belief system is your religion.
