Well, ya. There aren't many people out there than can hit consistently over the long haul in multiple sports. ok, first of all, regarding the guests, have you followed what Zach from Accuscore and Scott Kellen have had to say over the years? Those guys have actually given consistently accurate takes on games and teams, and their picks on the shows have been remarkably profitable. Sure variance plays a role, but they are legit, not scammers. Kellen in particular is very well-respected, and definitely counts as an "expert"
And, people from Wall Street are intimately aware of what the deal with talking heads and supposed "experts" on shows is. I'm sure a Wall Street guy would think the "expert" advice on these shows is more legit than the "expert" advice on shows about Wall Street pal.
And, other guests we've had on, Dr. Bob, RAS, et al, are well-respected as well. We are very careful about not having scammers or guys with bad reputations involved.
Who else would you want on a show discussing lines? Billy Walters? Obviously the people who would do the shows want to get something out of it, so that's going to be touts mostly.
Most touts aren't worth buying. But turns out some like Dr Bob and RAS actually move the Pinnacle #. To get the info before your local or another book does is worth paying for so you can't lump em all in together.
When SBR Pro options became limited in the US, guys asked for everything from buying travel through us, to touts, to line services. It's there if ya want it. SBR's marketing dept is working hard to keep high levels of sponsorship which means the same level of investment in the forum, contests and poker. Of course that doesn't mean you'll ever see a sportsbook atop that has cheated someone.
I don't care that the offer was given. What worries me is that it was even considered in the first place. Are things really that bad?

assuming an ROI of 14.55 ROI (60% -110 lines) with "normal" variance and HALF kelly, you will be very close to 1million in 10 years in 680 plays assuming $50 starting bankroll

There are lots of tout services out there that would love to give their "free ideas". What made you chose this one in particular? Money I take it?
It just looks bad. If SBR is using the members list for things like this offer then what does it say about their credibility if some dodgy sportsbook was looking to splash some cash?
It doesn't mean that it's going to happen it just makes it look that way.

I'm still shocked I received this PM this morning.
The point being that lots of things are free, but the vast majority of those things arent worth having. SBR claims that people actually want tout plays and then they pat themselves on the back for supplying them. If this is actually the case then I am sure it is a worthwhile offer to some. The problem is they hyped up this big free offer for pro's and then gave us something that both pros and non-pros can get every day in the service forum, so whats the point? The fact that many people believe that SBR is getting paid by said company to give out these picks is the topper.
I think about 90% of pros would rather have an extra 10 betpoints than tout plays. I appreciate everything SBR does I just think this was a lapse in judgment.
The problem of this thread is that everyone is lumping all the touts as the same.
the problem with you is you think any tout is worth buying.
if i posted 1000 plays winning at 60%, you might think its a good reason to go tout....I myself think of it as a good way of kicking my own ass for not winning millions on my own.
edit: if someone is so incompetent they cant make millions while hitting at 60%, its pretty clear they have no business trying to go tout

Just an FYI - I signed up to check it out with a first name only, email addy that I use for gaming, and no CC or address was required. The picks that they had posted only had 2 lines that hadn't moved. Whatever.
I can tell you that you have put much more thought in this than SBRforum has.
btw, 52 people signed up for the free picks so far. I would have lost on the under play.
And if they have then thats great. Honestly I dont have a very strong opinion one way or the other, just explaining why so many people are taking it more negatively than SBR intended.
maybe you should view it as it really is...52 people you have lead down the wrong path...instead of 52 people you have "helped".
i assume if these fukks go on a great run sbr will profit from new signups. i'd rather you delete some contests and not give me extra points that was actually scammed money from people.
