    Cliff Lee

Is stealing the NL Cy Young fellas

came within a pitch of his 6th shutout last time out and left a game a couple weeks ago up 10-0 after 7

    tonight he gets his 6th

also...pitches in a major league division and not AAAA

The thing is Keershaw has been more consistent over the whole year while Lee has been tremendous in spurts. So it is not a slam dunk.

not really, people just it view that way because of the odd cutoffs on perfect months.

look at kershaw in this strech from apr 16 to may 9th

    5GS, 31.2 IP, 1.39 WHIP, 4.18 ERA : including games where he went 4.2 IP 11 h+bb 5r, 5.1 IP 9 h+bb 5 r.

FYI cliff lee will be a lock once everyone sees this stuff...

    unbelievable

Lee’s total is more impressive when you consider how rare complete-game shutouts have become. His six are more than any N.L. team has had since 2005. There have been 30 in the league this year, and Lee has 20 percent of them, despite making 1.2 percent of the starts. You have to go back to Ed Morris of the 1886 Pittsburgh Alleghenys to find a single pitcher with 20 percent or more of a league’s shutouts.

So far in 2011, he has thrown all or part of 207 different innings. A full 174, or 84.1 percent of those innings, have been complete scoreless innings. This is 2 percent higher than second-place Josh Beckett, and it is the highest rate of scoreless innings since Pedro Martinez, in 2000. The overall highest rate, taking all pitchers since 1950, was 87.9 percent, put up by Bob Gibson in 1968.

yet he's 4th in the cy young predictor:

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/features/cyyoung

and shutouts dont automatically win you the cy young, just ask dontrelle willis who once led the league with 5.

Yeah because 4.4 points between four guys is a lot. Must be a slam dunk.

    Also, ESPN is a joke.

what do you guys think the line will be at on Thursday, when Cliff Lee goes up against a rookie florida pitcher with no wins?
