Not sure what Klinsmann was thinking. The team had no shape at all. I strongly doubt that his style of coaching will work. What he wants requires positional play and individual technique that is far above that of American players.
i'm not a soccer expert or anything but they look terrible, i might start to fade them. just another dime a dozen team.
cons:
- shots were wide of the net, can't shoot accurately
- terrible, weak back line
- can't pass/catch passes, hold on to the ball
- uncreative in scoring approaches
It's actually quite an interesting team to watch now from a betting perspective. Klinsmann has come in like an idealist, overestimating his ability to change the soccer culture. As long as he does that the US team will have an identity crisis. But when he gets down from his high horse and returns to a simpler style, the US will be just fine. That style includes a lot of players behind the ball, closing down gaps, making it hard for opponents to get through, and waiting for a mistake. It does not include trying to dominate and be overly creative, as some of the world's best teams.
odds of US team making the 2014 World Cup should not be more than 50% at this time. This is the worst talent pool the US had since the days of Tony Meola and Alexi Lalas.
Gold put the mush on the game. USA had better of play most of the night, but lost.
Klinsmann needs to quit playing Castillio and Orzco who flat out suck. Not our strongest lineup, but very sad to lose to CR at home and not even score.
