I use Betfair everyday and can tell you that there has been a notorius drop in liquidity in many markets. MLB, NBA and non-Premier Soccer games included.

All of that since Betfair decide to charge 20% in commission .And then 60%. Yes, sixty percent commission. Only if you are a winner, of course.

Horse racing, top Soccer matches, Tennis remain the same. Because of the abundance of mug punters, perhaps.

Betdaq and Matchbook cant be any happier. Their phones are working overtime.

Pinny has always been better than Betfair, this was never in question.
BF made the Arbers happy (same old stuff, hit a steam move when a big book like Pinny does a significant move, but instead of taking the arb at Pinny go to an exchange and get even better), and now that they charge ridiculous comissions it is no more possible. If they are unlucky to win a lot at Betfair, all the arb money and more might be gone...haha.
BF must be braindead, they know most of their players are arbers. Average Joe doesn't give shit about BF, they want a book like 3.65 or whatever.
This could be the end of BF soon if they go on pissing away the arbers.

It can depend a lot on what sports you bet but it is not true to say that Pinnacle has always been better than Betfair. I shop for the best odds and have been using both Pinnacle and Betfair for a long time. The fact that my Betfair turnover exceeds my Pinnacle turnover every year proves my point. But if you aren't into NRL, AFL, Tennis sets, Formula1, racing etc. then perhaps you would have greater turnover at Pinnacle. And if the current price available isn't as good as what you want, you can't ask Pinnacle for it but you can at Betfair. Both are absolute musts for a serious punter.

Look at the volume for the NFL game today, pitiful.
They are dead without either new currencies or coming back to the U.S. what a bloody mess.

If you bet no more than five thousand per bet in MLB, NHL, liquidity at Matchbook is ok.

Besides, paying juice, 20, 60% comissions elsewhere, not good for your bussiness.

Today there was 77k available on the Phillies (Game #2) today at the best price anywhere.

There have been some good days recently and some slow days at Matchbook, at least as far as MLB goes. How's soccer been?

I have been a Matchbook supporter, and use it a lot. But last few days volume has been awful. MLB ML, usually are 1-2 cents 1 hour before gametime (and $500+ depth), now have been 5+ cents in most games (yes, even NYY-Bos) with low liquidity.

It has been so dead that thursday some guy were offering bets borderline arbable prices, and stood them for a good while. I took Was +184 for hundreds (was Phi -181 at Greek!), and left over $1000 on the table when Greek moved to -185. Most possibly the same guy was offering Bal +135 (was Det -134 at Pinny) and left many Tampa Bay offers hanging while the price was going up. If it was one guy, he got his ass handed to him.

Maybe it is problem on the trade plataform, but the big offers / sharp buyers just have not been there for a few days

The question is why the hell did they leave to begin with? They can't compete with exchanges that cater to Europe and Asia.

What kind of question is that?
Cos they could loose everything, what US books do now is flat out illegal (before it was a grey zone probably).

So every book that takes US customers is basically risking it all? How can the US control a business that's in another country?

they don't need to but they are a law unto themselves, ignoring international courts etc

apart from making it so difficult to fund and withdraw from those books, the owners and managers are at risk of prosecution every time they set foot on US soil and their funds at risk of seizure

Well this sucks. I hope this crap changes but I doubt it. Every few years someone says the US is finally gonna do something about it but it never happens.
