Mandatory Evacuation
I'll be heading to either a hotel or hurricane shelter by 3pm tomorrow. Still looking for hotel rooms a reasonable distance away, but not for an arm and a leg. People taking it VERY serious in Narragansett, Rhode Island. There is a guy from the Weather Channel a couple hundred yards from my community....should be interesting!
I'm going to try and take/post some pics this weekend.

Real men would grab gear for some SUP in this thing....my boys in SC are already beach bound ready for some fun. Just buy you a couple Balance or Cliff bars and some energy drinks and water.....ride this thing out and start wagering again by Monday pal.

I'd love to stay at my house, but it's in a low lying area very close to the beach. Fukking cops left a notice on my door while I was at work, they'll be going door-to-door at 3pm Sat to force people out.
I can't wait to take some pics of the waves!!!

And yes, they can MAKE you leave your property if they feel your life will be in danger. That's what a State of Emergency allows them to do..
Just like when they have curfews outside when the weather is bad.
No it doesn't unless RI has some uncommon state law. What are they gonna do break into your house to see if you are there and put you in jail? A mandatory evacuation means the gov't isn't responsible for your well being if you stay and you may have to pay a fine or costs if you require rescue.

Yea, they cant MAKE you leave. Of course they will tell you that you're on your own, and don't expect sweetness out of them if they in fact do have to risk their lives to save you during this ordeal. You're doing the right thing by just getting out...no reason to tough guy it. You cant tough guy a hurricane.

no more hurricane, by the the time it will reach land it will only be a tropical storm. Media exaggerates it like crazy and it causes so much fear mongering, same as terrorist threat.
Haven't been to Bonvue since my URI days. Thursday nights used to be crazy there. They better be boarding that place up, might not be there come Monday.

If you haven't been through a TS or Hurricane, recognize ... they are both dangerous. TS might not batter you with the wind, but the flooding can be tremendous especially to areas already saturated. I've been through a couple of each in TX ... wind is no joke even 90 miles inland it can be scary.
Better to be safe than to be one of the idiots who makes the news as one of the people who "tried to ride out the storm" and drowned in their attic.

The problem with people who don't want to leave is that when the storm is full force they're scared shitless and are begging for someone to come save them when the guys who could possibly save them are busy doing other far more important things.
VI don't think twice about getting out....what would be the point in staying? Prevent looters? Give me a break. RI ain't exactly New Orleans lol

i realize you were called on this once already and immediately changed your story, but that quote is hilarious.
most overhyped storm in history. lucky if a decaying tree limb falls to the ground and maybe a few showers. people are sheep and will do what they are told by the "authorities". how can you possibly fear a 60mph tropical storm enough to run for cover. stick it out. it's laughable.
Might as well stay. Glorified rainstorm coming. Whole west wall of this hurricane broke down.
