Preseason NFL is one of the easiest markets to beat. Coaches give out all of their game plans, you can predict what will happen in certain situations better than in the regular season.
August is usually my best month of the year in terms of +EV
Respectfully disagree, say week 3 of preseason when a team is playing starters for 3 quarters and the other coach MAYBE a quarter and a half.
There are situations to make money.

The preseason is all about info! And the sharps have it. I have it from a reliable source that the Vegas books almost always lose money during the NFL preseason because the only big bets are from sharps that have info.

This is my 3rd season handicapping and I believe that the preseason and the first few weeks of the NFL season is a guessing game.

I have said it hundreds of times, NFL preseason is MUCH easier to beat than NFL regular season. If you don't bet NFL preseason, then you don't like money.
(Although I would definitely stay away from preseasons in all other sports)

I agree. I wager on about a dozen preseason games every year and always win more than I lose. Probably make 6 or 8 plays total for the entire regular NFL season.

One pre season was so good for me when I started losing in the regular season I just stopped so to have a winning season. Coach's motive's second and third string Q.B. were my keys that pre season. I disagree about only de gens betting pre season. Find the right angles and $ is to be won.

I've made money on betting Preseason unders. Especially the first 2 weeks of Preseason.
Why would it matter if teams were playing there backups? A team can still have better backups than the other.

One thing to look at is a coaches historical tendency towards preseason games. For example, Jimmy Johnson used to never care abt winning them at all. If you had/could bet large amounts on all the teams he played while he was at Dallas--I am sure you are retired somewhere. Other coaches, espcailly new ones trying to establish a "winning atitude" with a dog from previous year will look at preseason as a way to jump start their season. Go forth and prosper.
