    Question about buying and selling stocks

    Are u allowed to buy and sell the same company stock on the same day?

    There's different SEC rules for people who buy and sell stocks on same day and people who hold for longer term

    I guess I phrased it wrong, does etrade and scottrade have different requirement to be a day trader, or is it a federal regulation to maintain 25k

    Yes. But if you do it too often, your account will be flagged as a day trader account and you will have some extra rules to adhere to. Like minimum acct balance, etc.

    I think its a federal regulation......25K is standard, I believe.

    no you must hold each stock for at least 60 days.
