    New QB Rating System

Pretty interesting idea, we'll see how it plays out this year

    http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post...t-quarterbacks

If you are just interested in the 2010 list, here it is. Explanation is in the link.

Top tier: Brady, Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Michael Vick, Rodgers and Drew Brees.

Well above average: Josh Freeman, Eli Manning and Philip Rivers.

Above average: Ben Roethlisberger, Tony Romo, Joe Flacco, Matt Schaub, David Garrard and Kerry Collins.

Around average: Matt Cassel, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Mark Sanchez, Carson Palmer, Colt McCoy, Kyle Orton and Jon Kitna.

Below average: Shaun Hill, Jason Campbell, Jay Cutler, Matt Hasselbeck, Chad Henne, Donovan McNabb, Sam Bradford and Alex Smith.

Poor: Derek Anderson, Brett Favre and Jimmy Clausen

    Thoughts?

Note- I'm not advocating this as a perfect list or system, just found it intriguing and think we'll be seeing this a lot this season, since ESPN organized it.

Is there a formula or is this just another media decide?

Already sounds lame looking at the list.

Formula, and a very in-depth one (maybe too in-depth?). I don't know what the formula is though.

Personally, I think Eli and Matty Ice are too high, Big Ben and Bradford too low.

The formula was developed by the worst qb to ever win a SB...Trent Dilfer...not only that, but he wasn't a starter when that season began and in the offseason they cut him after winning the SB for Elvis Grbac...

but ESPN is right Trent Dilfer should be telling all-time greats that they suck and he was better

I'm sure this new formula will be far superior to the Passer rating, but our eyes will always be the best formula when judging. We don't need to see detailed stats to know how well a QB played, we just need to watch all 4 quarters.
