Rasmus is solid, but Frazor is a good reliever. Teahen is too old. Patterson was playing well this year

    Jackson is a bum.

AA with another great trade. Only gave up a decent SP prospect and a bunch of relievers for one of the most highly rated young CF in the game.

Alex Anthopoulos is a god.... he traded away three shiny rocks and got Colby Rasmus???

So in the last year he's traded away Vernon Wells albatross of a contract and handful of tin and gotten Rasmus & Yunel Escobar.

Corey Patterson should be in the Minors.

Also the Cards trading Rasmus is a sign that they are thinking short term to the ill effect of the long term plans.

Rasmus wouldn't listen to coaches. Super streaky. He also has a crazy dad that gets involved in everything and won't go away.

Dave Duncan can work magic with SPs that can't seem to get right. Dotel is a beast when he's not closing.

    I'm not that upset.

Rasmus is a JD drew clone. sure he has all the talent in the world but he is lazy, complacent, and mentally weak. He may put together a few solid years much like drew just to get a payday but he will NEVER be a star. i thought you knew baseball Brock.

La Russa on Rasmus and young players: "it can be tough for them to take coaching. They've been spoiled."

All cause his dad Tony. The biggest problem with Colby Rasmus was Tony Rasmus. Colby refused any advice from the coaching staff and would only listen to his father. Tony Rasmus even took o the message boards to undermine the Cardinal's coaching staff. The kid had to go.

Yes I have heard that TLR has had issues with Rasmus, ans Rasmus's father.

Think Rasmus going to tornto was great for him though. Bad situation in stl as they are consistenly tryin to change his swing. Alos I think playing with Bautista will help him learn beter plate mechanics.

I really think Stl is the best central team with or without Rasmus, b/c Pirates are fragile and Brewers are so bad defensively.

Colby Rasmus Is Thrilled That Obama Isn’t President In Canada

With Rasmus moving north of the border, Joe Sports Fan thought it would be a good time to unveil this undated photo of Colby making his political views known in the most effective way known to man — via t-shirt. So in a way, Rasmus is like everyone who's ever bitched that if an election didn't go their way, they'd move to Canada.

what i wanna know from Jays fans is more about this lefty out of your pen. tell me about him please, he seems to have really good numbers against lefties and pitches in a brutal div to face some stud lefties, is his stuff good?

We had to get a lefty that could get outs period, Cards lefty "specialist" i use that term loosely this season have allowed left handed hitters to get on base at a .400 clip!!!!!!!!!!

Dotel i could take or leave but getting jackson (honestly dont know what to expect from this kid, know he got the talent but no idea if he the type that will buy into the Duncan/Larussa gm plan) puts McClellan back in the pen where he is very good. giving Cards McClellan, Lynn (if you dont know him you should, plus plus stuff), Motte (serviceable with a serious fastball that dominates the lower level players), Boggs (stuff of a closer but inconsistent at times) , the lefty from Jays (cant spell his name yet), dotel, and Salas as closer who i believe will be fine in that roll....Basically whether or not Cards should have got more for Rasmus garbage ass is irrelevant as you have just turned what has been this teams downfall all season into a strength..If Jackson buys into Duncans teachings and embrasses STL like most players do as not many better places to play the rest of the NL should watch the fukk out cause I dont think anyone would dispute Cards have the best lineup in the NL already now their pen doesnt suck. uh ohh

this move made STL a real contender for more than just central...If this lefty from Jays is what he is supposed to be cause admittedly i know nothing about him and 1st reaction was doesnt jays pen suck?

Corky's (i mean colbys) dad and himself were the ones tinkering with his swing. kid is a headcase who doesnt listen for shit, just one of these pricks that came up being told how good they were for way to long who doesnt think he has to work or learn anything. Berkman tried helping the kid and forgive me if i think if you cant learn from one of the better switch hitters of his time that i dont think Bautista gonna do much for him. I mean he will probably tear it up out the gates just because he so happy to be gone but that just false hope in a arbitration year. JD drew clone

I believe you may be right about him. Although, I kinda wanted him to stick around a while longer to see if he became that stud, but if he can't get along with coaches it will never happen.

that is exactly what will happen. he been over privileged his whole life and ppl dont change very often. These mlb network assholes cracking me up acting like Jays are big winners with this deal. i mean i dont know about the lefty reliever but Cards dont generally make moves where the other team is "big winners".

Like i said im sure these comments will get bumped to shit when he goes on a tear soon as he touches down but it all false hope, everyone that bumps my comments the next month or 2 because Rasmus plays well just remember to bump this shit in 2 years when he turns out to be exactly what im saying he is.

Sabergeeks love this pussy but that the problem with sabergeeks, they seriously lack creativity or imagination because they let formulas dictate their lives. aint no formula to measure pussy, watch this kid lazily play the outfield and tell me what potential he has. sure he will make a great play from time to time and flash his talent but what you dont see are all the ignorant mental mistakes he makes in every game. You cant make a kid want it more, hell id kill to have Rasmus if he was mentally wired like jon jay but id take Jay all day cause with limited tools he makes everything out of what he has and doesnt take the gm for granted.

A duck will always be a Duck and Colby will always be a lazy uninspired player that does just enough to make teams fall in love with the physical ability.

thing is if he stuck around longer and looked worse and worse he would lose the obviously little value he had as a trade piece.

Ill be the 1st to admit Larussa does not have a great track record with youngsters (and i have had tons of issues with him over the years) as he would take experience over talent all day, that said i see the look in Colby's eyes and it is not a look of someone who gives a shit and certainly not the look of someone hungry to be the best at what he does.

Jay was def exposed last season after the league had a good look at him, but to his credit he came back this year and has made adjustments (something you will never see from Colby as "work" isnt really his thing)), he still has holes but we dont need him to be great at the plate, we needed a bullpen and now we have one. Jay much better in the field simply because when a ball gets hit he is actually watching the game when at times im not sure wtf Rasmus was doing out there. But there other options for us if Jay really struggles (which i dont think is gonna happen) once Craig returns my guess is we see shoe take turns in the outfield so Craig can play 2nd and give us another very good bat, we did get paterson who is nothing special but does bring a little speed we are clearly lacking.

even if Jackson doesnt buy in i dont mind the move cause our pen could very well go from pitiful to a strength. On the other hand this is a contract year for jackson and cant anyone say he doesnt have the stuff, dont know the guy so have no idea if he the type to take to coaching but with his stuff if he gets on board with the Duncan plan then i would think he is very good for us.

I do too, actually and this move may actually help them this year, as they can start Jon Jay over Rasmus this year and adding more relief pitchers is always good, epically seeing how TLR likes to use between 8-12 pitchers a game.

Edwin Jackson should also provide an upgrade at starter over McClellen.

Pittsburg is nice story, but I dont trust anyone in the Rotation and the Brewers have to do something to improve their SS/3B issues.

more importantly it puts McClellan back where he is best (in the pen), before this season McClellan was brutal on lefties out of the pen, he had a huge reverse split going on and his velocity should come back up some now that he isnt trying to go 6-7 inings, hopefully he can be enough of a team player for this not to get to him tho as he really wants to start.
