    Thremp vs Conquering Risk

    Thremp gave my book a bad rating on Amazon. Then, he asked all his blog followers to vote his review favorable, and to "vote down the reviews that are inaccurate. For example: Every review that is not mine." His campaign was fairly successful. In a 24 hour period, he increased the vote count by nearly 50%; almost all were adverse to the book.

    If you read this book (and SBR has shipped 100's of them), take a look at the reviews. Vote on the reviews based on their accuracy.

    I find it curious that Thremp advocated voting against every single favorable review, even though 3 were from professional gamblers and 1 was one of Amazon's top 500 reviewers. Additionally, his 7-sentence review was factually wrong in two instances.

    That's a shame. I don't know much about sports betting (at least how you "PROS" talk about it) alhough, from a buyer's perspective I wouldn't put too much weight on one negative when purchasing items.

    One of those reviewers is the top quant at one of the biggest (and most prestigious) hedge funds in the world; if he gives it 5 stars, it should be good enough for almost anyone. Conquering Risk is definitely a must-have in any sports bettor's library.

    However, thremp does have one valid point: the chapters written by your co-author are VERY weak. I've told my friend (who's interested in handicapping) to just skip those chapters.

    Looks like at the very most 2 or 3 people have "no"ed each one... the same amount that "no"ed Thremps review. The review isn't that bad anyway. And the bad bits just sound like a smartass making a couple of near irrelevant points.

    Are you really upset or just looking for a chance to start another thread about the book?

    Feustel recommends a scam sportsbook. The chapter on teasers is data mined and inconsistent. (Why would you place a bet at -241 instead of -225? Insanity.) The chapters written by his coauthor on the market are insanely incorrect/horrid.

    One of the better books on sports betting, which speaks more to the lack of quality literature (for a variety of reasons) than the quality of the book. Ignore his recommendations on which books to use as he's a paid by an affiliate advertising site, ignore his teaser advice, and ignore all the advice on equity markets. If you manage this, you'll avoid the major pitfalls of the piece.

    Edit: I don't really see the problem. Your book still has 4.5 stars. Very good. It doesn't have to be universally loved, does it? Very few things are. As to Thremp and sect, nothing out of character or not entirely predictable. Be glad you're not one of 'm.

    Just looked over the reviews. There's one by a top 500 Amazon reviewer, which is complimenting as well as critical, and takes the time to explain.

    It works the other way around too at Amazon. Some writers call in the troops, all friends and family, to load up on the positive reviews. The last book I ordered, on a small market topic, fit that category. I was ready to receive a virtual masterpiece. The reality was very different. So... be careful with Amazon reviews. Some of those lines are shaded.

    what makes you think everyone that votes up Thremp's comment is an unthinking sheep.
    Perhaps, they agree with many of the flaws pointed out.

    He did call it one of the best books on sportsbetting out there. He even told readers which parts to avoid, which implies the rest has value. Stern, but fair.

    I meet the person who wrote the "Intro" to the book.

    He hangs out @ the M. Tall, chubby, and extremely nice. I met his whole crew, who said they were from Seattle. They said they built their bankroll from Internet Marketing.

    I have forgotten his name, but I'm sure you know who I am referring to Justin.

    The SBR know it alls fockin jokers, at least you wrote a book justin and did not just say "I can't reveal any information or I hurt my profitability." The bullshit line of a few of the degrading losers that post These clowns are broke bums just like most of the rest of us or else they would be out enjoying their "fortunes" made on gambling. They don't want you to have any success because they are failures and envious.
