giants shouldnt trade for beltran...he is always on DL...knee banged up etc..giants already have bunch of players who are always on DL. Besides beltran is 34. No point in trading a top prospect for him.

Who the giants should be going after is bj upton. The guys is just 27 and will reach his peak. Plus he has one more year in contract. Trading a top prospect for him makes much more sense.

giants should go after upton than beltran.

I think it will be one of 3 teams...Phillies...Braves or Giants...He would probably help the Giants more than the other teams but all they are doing is renting him anyway...

I'm just glad he'll be going to a relevant team. Fond memories of him from the Royals.

i'm an Astros fan, so I remember ... Beltran did not blow smoke. Sure, his average was not quite as good as good as it was with KC - but he was an absolute beast with Houston when traded. 23 HRs in 90 games, great OPS and great defense. Obviously at 34, his skill set is different than last time, but he can be a great acquisition for some team. Not really sure why the Rangers would go after him, unless they think getting more offense will offset being unable to upgrade their pitching ... I think the Giants would be the team that needs him the most, but also the team where he might fail more since their lineup offers less protection. I guess Braves or BoSox in a reactionary trade if the Yanks do something.

Hoping for the Phillies as he would look real good platooning with Ibanez and Brown.

I think Atlanta may make the big move. They have the pieces in the farm system.

I wish he'd end up in Pittsburgh. I think he will end up in Atlanta -- Nate McLouth's days are numbered.

Rangers or Giants but you never know this time of the year. I wouldn't give up top prospects for a guy who is injured often and a rental. Talented but not at the top of my list. Then again the choices are limited.

Beltran WILL NOT end up in Philadelphia.

Obviously, the Mets will not deal their best player to their divisional arch rival.

More importantly, Philly does not want to see the prospects they will have to give up for Beltran flourish and come back to haunt them in the near future...

Giants won't repeat with or without Beltran. They will miss what Buster Posey brought to them

    Maybe next year

LOL, he is a rental, the Mets will trade him to Philly if Philly gives them the best offer.

Philly isn't going to part with Brown and that is the sticking point right now. Also, Beltran is not the Mets best player.

If Beltran gets the Phillies a World Series Ring then it is worth it even if the prospects end up doing well on the Mets.

If you ask me he is not even that good. I mean that year he had in Houston was his best. I don't see the hype.

My guess is the Rangers, all other teams seem not to want to part with the prospect(s) needed to get a deal done. Mets better move him soon or they will be stuck with him and get no one in return.

Being a Mets Fan I hope we trade this garbage to Atlanta they have the best farm system but S Fran needs him the most they are 15th in the NL in offense even his avg bat will help until his wheels fall off again....was hoping they would take Reyes also

If the Rangers get him that offense will be even scarier then they already are and would get them to the championship if they get one more pitcher of course. The Braves will look very strong with him in their lineup to go with their good pitching and giants they suck either way. I don't think they even make playoffs

His health may be a gamble, but he definitely still has some good stuff on the plate. I'm sure there are teams that would be happy to get him.

    Red Sox.

McDonald is a bust, they can't take JD Drew anymore, perfect fit in Boston in RF, switch hitter, bat him behind Youk and in front of Crawford.

Mets might want Drew Sutton though for him.
