    HR Derby discussion

    Alright boys,

Who's the good bet? I believe it comes down to Cano or Fielder. Cano at +600 seems damn solid. Thoughts?

You putting a little on him? I know it's a degenerate thing to do, but I will probably put a little something on it, to make it a little more worth my time.

Gonzalez is the popular value choice.
Loshak has a good video on HR derby pinned at baseball forum.
Also, heres a good article on it.
Definitely going to put something on Adrian on Monday.

Big Boys Ortiz or Fielder will win it. I do agree above that Cano cano drive it too and worth a small play at nice odds.

    Son? Angry much?

He's also got 30% more homers than Cano who is doing nothing more than hitting what he should be.

There really isn't any reason to pick Cano other than to reach. If that's what you're doing then so be it. I'd pick him to get zero before I pick him to win.

The Son response was after you called me kid.....angry? No, not angry. Just busting balls back with you....but I guess you can't do that with some guys.

Sure, Matt Kemp has 7 more Hr's than Cano this year. I was simply bringing up that Cano is far from a singles hitter, when compared to Kemp.

GL to you and and your wagers.

10 points on cano vs kemp junior?

If they reach the same round whoever gets more for that round wins, regardless of what happens before. Kemp only needs to hit one

10 points it is. GL, I'll pay you in this thread, if Cano decides to not get off the plane.

i remember last year corey hart was hitting a bunch, and he doesn't hit home runs much. nelson cruz was hitting a lot. but ortiz won.
maybe gonzalez will win it. gotta be someone who doesn't foul balls off much, but has great rate of connecting with the ball.
i would have not picked oritiz though, and he won. i already put a little on cano. i have no idea.

honestly to me they all have the same chance more or less. its kinda like the 3 point competition in basketball where 3 Point percentage during the year correlates very little to the actual even.

Fatigue plays a big role in these things.

Bigger guys that dont have to put as much effort into the swing to launch a HR usually do better.

Take Fielder or Papi, also look at the dimensions of chase field and see if you can find spray charts for each hitter.

Chase field is 330 feet to left, 376 to left center, 407 to center, 376 to right center, and 335 to right. The height of the wall is equal on both sides of the park.
