Monday’s matchup is an intriguing one. Right-hander Johnny Cueto faces Chris Carpenter in a 6:15 game. Cueto and Carpenter were two of the main participants in the brawl Aug. 9 last season.
Cueto says he’s not worried about Carpenter hitting him. Cueto will concentrate on the task at hand.
“I’m just going to try to pitch my game,” he said.
Cueto has pitched like an ace lately. He went 3-0 with a 1.51 ERA and was the victim two blown saves in June.
The Reds are convinced their best baseball is ahead.
“The way I look at it we have a good enough team,” closer Francisco Cordero said. “We’re not playing that well now. But we’re going to be better. Dusty says that the same thing. Everyday we’re going to get it going.
“We’ve got a good team like we had last year. It’s just a matter of time. We’re a better team.”
Side note Cueto also ended Larue's career last year by spiking him in the head giving him a concussion.
