With Gabashvili, it's probably a correctscore fix. Watch as he comes back and wins 2-1.

He looks good for his age

Why does he not play on seniors tour with McEnroe?

I cannot believe you can bet on these matches

He is probably playing as a hobby to stay fit at this age and not to get any rankings or win any money. Also he can meet young tennis players at the bar.

I think you are being a little loose with the term "legend"...He's not legend except in his own mind.

Journeyman may be a more apt description of his career...

I think he was better than a journeyman, he did win a lot on clay courts
    1 major
    ranked number 1
    Career titles 44

How about a great great clay court pro

My oh my, a miracle comeback and 2-1 win.

Gabashvili does this all the time. Remember his match with Volandri in St Petersburg last year? Volandri (the worst hard court player imaginable) wins first set, then suddenly Gabashvili's odds drop to -12345624562865728543654 in livebetting.

You know sometimes what these players do? If they know they can beat the guy they let him win the first set so they can play 3 sets and get some exercise. It's not always fixed as you implied.

LMAO, if any mug took those odds they got well and truly scammed and they should give up betting. Muster was +1000 to win the match at a fair few bookies.

One of these things is not like the other. One of these things doesn't belong.

Ther top 7 are legends in every sense of the word. Muster is/was a clay court specialist, at best...and a LONG way from legend status.

My point was not to name every legend...but simply to point out that Muster was not one.

    For the record.
    1. I do consider Becker to be a tennis legend.

    2. The name calling is not necessary and reflects poorly on you, Roxy.

Man I wonder why you Lose betting tennis as you have no clue about game and who is a good player.

When You mention clay court tennis of Course Borg/ Nadal/Vilas even Lendl but Muster is also in conversation

When you take a closer look, is he even a clay court legend?

Out of 44 career titles, 40 were on clay (91%), with only 3 titles on hard and 1 on carpet. He only turned up to Wimbledon 4 times in his career, and never won a single match.

However, despite his impressive looking numbers, when you scratch the surface they start to look a little weaker. At Roland Garros, other than his one title success, he only reached the QF on 2 other occassions. His record in the Super 9 and regular tour events on clay were really what he built his reputation on.

Unlike guys like Nadal, Borg and even Vilas, he only won one slam on the surface that he was meant to be dominant on, and achieved no success at the other 3 majors.

If I may give a modern day analogy (which you may laugh at and think I'm absurd). Andy Murray is a very good hardcourt player. Reached 3 Grand Slam finals on hardcourts, and won numerous Masters' Series and smaller events on the surface. At the end of his career, 80%+ of his career titles will have been on hardcourts. If Murray wins one hardcourt slam (and no other majors) and a handful more Masters Series and a number of smaller titles on hardcourts, will he be a hardcourt legend? I think no, but it is open to debate.

In my eyes, Muster was the best player on clay of his generation. but despite this, he only won one major on the surface where he was dominant. Within 6 years of Muster's sole RG success, Gustavo Kuerten had 3 RG titles under his belt. He ended his career with a 'mere' 20 titles, with only 14 clay titles compared to Muster's 40. Kuerten's performance in the majors makes him the better player IMO.

    Definitely not a legend.
