zito is a bad one but at the time was money....the werth deal was simply outrageous and just bad, but i think the worst of the worst was soriano as NOBODY was in the "bidding" war that resulted in the cubs overpaying by liek 100 million for this bum

the jeter deal is nowhere near as bad as the other guys. its 65 mill and he brought them five rings as a key part of the team. more of a thank you. we know we are overpaying you but here. the yankees print money. also probably figured it would be easier to just give in then turn it into a war. they spouted off a little bit but then just caved

There wasn't? The Red Sox lost in a bidding war (they claim they backed out) to the Yankees for his services.

Ya but how great would it of been to be on that plane ride after the mets won the title in 86. Strippers, champagne flowing like fine wine, and that famous coke buffet set up by straw doc keith and lenny. If i could only have been there.

One that has always stuck with me was Jeff Blauser. Very average SS who had a career year for the Braves in 1997. The Cubs (of course) signed him to a huge deal. They ended up paying 8.2 million for 13 hr and 52 rbi in 2 seasons.

my vote is bobby bonilla. best for him, worst for the mets. they gotta start paying him 1.2 mil a year for the next 25. and that was a pre a-rod contract.
