    Hmm, didn't think about it like this, but it would make more sense for him to announce it during the end of the NBA season than during the off-season where basketball fans wouldn't even tune in.

    Shaq is obviously and always has been an attention whore...however, I'm not sure this instance makes him any more of one. This could go either way. Perhaps waiting until the NBA was quiet would draw even more attention on him because the media is always starving for stuff to talk about during any given sport's off-season.

    Though, I actually do think he did this on purpose for the attention, yes.

    I love shaq....think hes hilarious...followed him all through college. His career fell off really fast though the last 5 years with all the injuries. I remember when he was in like his 3rd year in the league he said he was only planning on playing like 10 or 12 season...I remember being pissed....looking back that's what he should have done. I didn't like watching him playing w/o being the dominant player he was in his prime

    Look for Shaq on a boob tube in the near future. Also, never watched it but I might as well call it now, dancing with the stars. Seems like every washed up and/or fading athlete gets on the show.

    He really should do dancing with the bears, it would be more symmetrical.

    totally agree Shaq and Barkley were my first favorite players and i watched him come up.. Shaq in his prime=beastmode.. How many backboards did they have 2 repace again>???
