Anyone see what happened in Twins/Tigers Game?

Tie game bottom of 8th 2 outs man on third.

Batter hits ball down 3rd base line fair, ball bounces up into seats for a second, hits a fan goes back onto field, the OF points to the ball and the fan. The Umps gather and reward home plate to runner on 1st

Gardenhire gets tossed and Twins lose a game that should have been tied still.

how the **** did the umps say it was within their right to ignore the rulebook?

    huh?

you said there was already guy on third?

if the ball was hit fair down the line, didnt the guy on third make it home thus breaking the tie anyway?

LOL my bad man on first, and it was a slow runner Johnny Peralta.

No way was he easily going to score there, would have been bang bang play

it isn't automatic to award 2 bases on that..if in the judgement of umpire runner would have scored if it wasn't touched they can award the extra base.

true but the ball looked to go into the stands and hit the fan before bouncing back in, which would make a GR double --
