    1) The democratic party, especially the current congress, sucks. Let's get that out of the way.

    2) I do not care for entitlement programs. I do prefer a government that can effectively provide certain services (which the US has done in the past) for the overall improvement of society. You may hate all government, but without the infrastructure and security provided by the US gov't the economy would be nowhere near as strong. You really should live down here. It's a conservative paradise these days. Few taxes for rich people, no gov't services. Bring your own army to protect you.

    3) The Republican party has spent 8 years taking away more liberties than ever before in the history of the USA. What specifically in regards to Obama are you referring to?

    4) Presidents rarely can deliver on many of their campaign promises. McCain promises all sorts of ridiculous things. Cutting taxes is not the solution to everything. I'm willing to see my taxes increased (mind you to that ridiculous level that they were just 8 years ago -- remember when the economy was tanking during the Clinton presidency? oh wait), in order to start digging out of the hole the country is in.

    5) A democratic president will mean less people down here (and around the world) lose their lives as a direct result of US foreign policy. For me that is more important than anything else.

Lastly, no one, Barrack Obama specifically included, has proposed anything that even resembles Socialism, let along "extreme socialism". Do you even know what socialism is?

Unless of course you want to talk about the recent Bush administration actions in the financial industry.

Extreme socialism? What the hell are you smoking?

This country is so far to the right it's ridiculous. And yes, that means the Democrats too. It's funny when the term "socialist" gets tossed around during election time -- the divide between Democrat and Republican isn't exact as large as y'all make it out to be. Democrats are Centrists, for the most part. Sure there are minor differences about how to tackle the economy, welfare, the war(s), but the candidates sure agree on a whole hell of a lot more than they disagree. Where is our third party? The rest of the so-called "civilized world" (whatever that means) has more than two parties and has a political system that actually covers the political spectrum -- unlike here where we vote between Right-Centrists and Kinda-Centrists. As a number of Libertarian (Ron Paul) posters here have pointed out, not even the Right is being fully represented in our politics, let alone the Left, who embarrassingly can't come up with a pro-gay marriage or pro-choice presidential candidate or VP candidate.

Calling either side of this two-headed disaster-torpedo "socialist" is pretty stupid. And yet now we have McCain and Palin, as desperate as they are, throwing around the "S" Bomb like we're back in the 50s. Oh, wait, sorry, McCain grew up in the 50s -- I'm starting to think he's having flashbacks to when Blacks couldn't go to school with Whites and everyone was a pinko-commie.

Throwing the word "socialism" around is ridiculous

This is hardly radical. In fact sounds conservative. Seems that this should be the Republican platform. Of course it's not.

#5 I hope this is true.

Bush & McCain are socialists. Might as well vote in someone that knows how to deliver a socialist agenda rather than just sinking this country in a ridiculous debt.

If the Repubs really had an answer, they wouldn't have sent up Bush to deliver the sermon.

I agree. But compared to the 1700's when this country was founded, this country may seem VERY socialist. In the USA's infancy, there just wasn't the same issues which modern times have brought.

This is a problem with the GOP, or gasp, the neocons. They talk like it's still the 1950's, 1850's, or even the 1750's. Until they start talking about the 2050's they just will be too far out of touch. We need to look forward rather than stagnate in the past.

They did. Remember when Bush said : "The free market isn't working".
In the speech he made asking for the bailout.
He threw the whole capitalist model they've been rationalizing for 100 years, threw it in the toilet, and nobody bated an eye.

Free market capitalism works. They just need to adjust it to modern times. Sheesh. I wish Bush had a brain. Not to mention the rest of the GOP party. WTF is wrong with these guys? They were in complete control for a while there, why can't they run this ship?

You clowns blame Repubs either way. This mess was cause mostly by dems. The bailout was to save the american dollar. It was not to line pockets. It was to save the americans that pay their bills and live in their means. Rememer the savior Clinton had a his paws in this mess too. But its easy to blame the guy in office when teh stack of cards falls. Even though he had prob 10% of input on it all. Thank Congress and other co-ed political group programs. Its not Bush or the Repub. It was everyone. Just like if and I mean if Obama gets elected and when the market rebounds he will the savior which is fact JJGold could be president when the market rebounds. It's bound to.

McCain's health plan is complete socialism.

Bush's economic stimulus is socialism. "No child left" behind is socialism.

I feel sorry for anyone that still has to pretend that the GOP isn't a socialist machine.

    duece,
republicans have been acting like democrats for some time now. they welched on all the promises they made in 1994. and slacker is right the GOP is full of socialistic agendas.
its far too easy for either party to play class warfare and pander to the bottom or pander to big business, or pander to some special interest. all that ultimately matters is that you have the people's vote. thats why democracy blows, its easy to buy support, its easy to play partisan games with the people, its easy to fool people into thinking theyre free and they have a choice, if they get the privilege to vote. democracy is a cult. and our current form of government is a democractic perversion of a republic. where government schools indoctrinate our children to be good little government subjects. they are raised to think that government is the solution to every problem you may face, when 9 times out of 10 it was the government that caused the problem to start with.

    duece:
mccain = obama , theyre both big government socialists
just like bud light and bud heavy are both still budweiser
and like decaf and regular are both still coffee

    pick your poison

Socialism as you describe it, isn't really socialism.

Maybe once we start agreeing on what certain words mean we can find more common ground. It seems like a lot of complaints are legit.
