    My family knows absolutely nothing about me, or my real heartfelt feelings about this world that ensconces us. I think it would hurt them too much to realize my side of the truth. So I keep them happy and at arms length.

    It depends on you define family. I am close to my family but not necessarily close to relatives. I think of family as a choice so friends can be included in it. Just like my relatives (father,few uncles, grandparents etc.) can not be part of my family. I try to surround myself with people I make happy and make me happy in turn. Anyone toxic is not worth the trouble.

    the few real friends i have i consider family, but i consider my brothers 2 of my best friends as well. so i think it is a push for me.
