Summer is the time for Horse Racing

    nothing like track action..
    1) immediate gratification
    2) immediate next race to chase
    3) myriad of wagering options
    4) many tracks have free video
    5) inexpensive packages available for programs/video
    5) combination of conservative wagering and lotto
    6) no refs

why not ? i come from a greyhound racing background, but
options there, although they still exist, are limited.
most books are hardwired into horse racing.

why don't more degens here play the Sport of Kings ?

RACINOS and Casinos might of helped "save the tracks" but it has moved the casual bettor from wagering on the horses to........

slot machines..........no thought process.....just overuse of the finger.

No wonder this country in in a bad tailspin.

Love horse racing, but being as I didnt grow up with any foundation in it, I have no clue whats going on. It seems too complicated. I live in San Diego so I hit the track a few times a year when it's in town at del mar and bet a boxed trifecta on every race. Never have I hit one though.

I prefer betting over sports. Why wait 3 hours for a game to end when you can cash in 2 minutes at the track

My ultimate dream is to have a full fledged simulcasting centre in my home. Multiple big screens showing races from all over the continent, other screens showing probables and willpays. A couple terabyte harddrives to accumulate races on. Central office to do all downloading and printing of programs.

Theres is such a smorgasboard of racing in the summer , you have to be able to pic your spots as your time can be spread too thin to cover everything.

There are multiple keys to betting on horses to be successful.

You have to watch the races and make notes of horses who had to overcome tough trips or horses that didnt race their preferred style and got beat up. Watch, watch, watch.

Read the oddsboard for clues. Opening odds and sharp action(steam) disclose information about horses whose form is tough to gauge.

Post parades, eyes again, tell clues to whether a horse is on its game or not.

Finally, it takes a helping hand to spot things you may overlook and provide guidance on probables etc.
It takes alot of homework but if you do, you are ahead of the several hundred that don't pay attention and you can do well.

I was very successful but then began to take shortcuts and didnt inveest the time required and haven't been able to go on abig run again. Recently, i have been able to string together a number of modest days, just hope i can continue over the whole summer.
