Michael Baze found dead at churchill!!!
Mike Baze who finnished second on Nero in the Derby was found dead in the parking lot at churchill downs Tuesday. Authorities could not release cause of death until autopsy was performed.
Baze was a mainstay in California racing for years, lived in Glendora, but moved his tack east a year ago.

Baze did NOT ride Nehro in the Kentucky Derby; Corey Nakatani did. Baze did ride Nehro earlier in his career. The story says he hadn't had a mount in the last two weeks, which seems a bit odd unless he was injured, and there's no mention of that.Originally Posted by Pharieswheel

How many Bazes are there?The Bazes are to race riding as the Wallendas are to high wire acts.A husband and wife Baze who each had alot of race wins both were riding at little old Assiniboia Down in Winnipeg,Manitoba Canada not too far from me.I wondered why they rode there?Let's face it,most jockeys are defective in some way.They hate themselves for being small to begin with.Watch the Twilight Zone episode where Mickey Rooney played a jockey.Then you have to try to stay small when your body tells you that you really aren't supposed to be small anymore.Dylan Williams a teen jockey phenom going to be is a little over 20 now and probably will be 6 feet tall if he keeps growing.He was at big tracks like Santa Anita even for awhile but now he's riding at bush tracks in the Dakotas.His dad was a great journeyman who had a severe coke habit that almost brought racing down in Nebraska in the 80's.
Lets face it,to be 100 pounds and get on top a 1200 pound high strung beast going 30 some miles an hour takes a lunatic.If you are lucky enough as a jockey to make the big time and win 3 to 8 million bucks in your 20's,quit immediately.Go live the good life hanging out at the track,drinking beer,eating,making 50 cent for the fun of it super trifecta bets and enjoy life. Never get on the back of a horse again.
Then these top notch jockeys want to all marry models and such that are 6 feet tall.Pincay did,Shoemaker did,,,stupid move.Pincay's model wife hung or shot herself in front of the kids on coke.The kid is what's his name on HRTV and Versus broadcasting and racing.He's got a pretty good voice. Chances are,the woman is going to want more if you know what I mean and she's going to get half of your net worth.Remember Kent Desormeaux on Big Brown in the triple crown where he got so philosophical with his babe of a wife how the triple crown was in the cards for him because his severely affected by autism kid changed his life to be a god fearing family man.Well,Kent lost the triple crown,kept riding and his wife went bye bye.
Look at how nutso Calvin Borrel is where he's always getting ready to look like a demon and jump some other jockey.Most of these jockeys have small heads with tiny brains=dumbass ways of thinking.
Watch the Randy Romero-Shane Sellers documentary how Romero's liver and kidneys were gone and he still raced.I think he got burned severely in a sweat box too.

Report: Jockey Found Dead At Churchill Was Facing Cocaine Charges

Guessing suicide/OD.There are new details surrounding the death of a young jockey found inside his SUV Tuesday evening on the backside of Churchill Downs. In an arrest report obtained by WLKY, 24-year-old Michael Baze was scheduled for a court appearance Thursday on a cocaine charge. A Metro police citation shows Baze was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance just after midnight on Nov. 18. The arrest happened in a parking lot at Baxter Avenue and East Broadway while detectives were conducting a narcotics investigation.
According to the citation, Baze was inside a vehicle in the parking lot with the lights off.
Detectives had received a number of complaints from that area concerning narcotics and thefts from cars.
According to the arrest report, Baze told police he had cocaine in the vehicle and a small baggie of suspected cocaine was found. On Tuesday, Baze was found dead inside his SUV in the stable area of the track around 4:45 p.m.

I heard crazy stories about jockey's and WWE wrestler's partying like crazy during the Del Mar meets back in the 80's/90's. But they could be just that stories. But it would of been funny watching Andre the Giant partying his ass off with a 5'0" 105LB jockey and their 6'0" girlfriend.
It was tragic to learn of Michael Baze's death. He was just a kid. Supposedly was really gaining respect on the track even from people who thought he made it on his name. sounds like he was going to be a great jockey in his own right, not just known as Mike bazes son or nephew of gary baze.

Thats very true about jockeys and their wild lives, you hear more about jockeys and drinking and women than you do about the owners. Some of the jockeys have sexier wives than the owners do.

Sad stuff man! Yeah I read where he was suppose to appear in court over a cocaine possession charge. Sounds like he must have got hold of some bad shit or his heart fuk'in exploded from too much blow. 22 years old, what a waste. These fuk'in kids got their whole lives in front of them and they crash and burn over battery acid meth, bathtub salts and coke that's been cut with who knows what kind of shit!
The kid had an ongoing drug problem, sad to see people get ruined by drugs
What a waste of life!! People are fighting every day to stay alive and others are throwing their lives away. Very sad
He had a DUI incident last year, was either just divorced or about to be divorced, and now the drug problem. That's a lot to deal with, but those aren't problems you can't recover from. It's a terribly sad ending to the story.
Nero might be on drugs as well.
Pat Valenzuela was probably leading the show, guy has been banned from Cali like 4 times and still comes back strong...he's amazing
yeah. though the guy will never be found guilty. no matter, drugs will mess a person up. i lost a daughter to them.
One of many sad lives from the backstretch. Much more prevalent then people even know. RIP.
