    Leaving for Las Vegas

    Hey guys,

Just thought I'd try and get some last minute advice from anyone on here. Im a senior in college and my last exam is tomorrow May 9th. I left Tuesday as a packing day and a day to get a haircut buy some new clothes and am leaving for las vegas Wednesday, flight leaves at 1:11PM, stops once in Cleveland and lands in Las Vegas at 6:34 vegas time. I'm staying from Wednesday to Tuesday at the Planet Hollywood in a hollywood hip room with a strip view. I'm an avid poker player and sports bettor. The only things I have planned so far are the following:

    - Helicopter ride to the grand canyon
    - Hoover dam bus tour
    - Visit the Pawn shop from the show "Pawn Stars"
    - Play lots of poker tournaments at the venitian and Aria poker
    - Bet sports everyday
    - Find an amazing sushi place and pig out

So for those of you that have been there and have done "Must do" things please let me know. I think I have the week planned out nicley but am def open to suggestions of what else to do, so if you know of something that I absolutley must do, or a place I must eat at please let me know.

Thanks alot guys, you're the best!

Have a great time! I have been to Vegas literally dozens of times and have never done any of the tourist stuff. Never even been to a show. I rarely ever leave the Hotel that we stay at.

There's so many great restaurants, and so many great things to do, that I think you have the right idea to take it all in. Be smart about your money mgmt, because it can get away from you really quickly out there.

    Have a great trip.

I never do the tourist things either. Go watch an NBA playoff game at the bellagio sportsbook. Nicest sportsbook in vegas. And be smart with your gambling money. The last thing you want to do is go broke the day you get out there

    1. Eat breakfast at Bouchon in the Venetian.. Seriously.. one of the worlds best places to eat and probably the best value in vegas.. don't slip on this one bro.. and wear you trunks. u can slip out the back and go into the private pool garden with the hot tubs and mini pool.. best way to start a hangover..
    2. Check out the sports book at the Palazzo
    3. Dinner at Tao.. also at the venetian.. you can get your sushi here.. as well as amazing sake and other asian inspired dishes.. u will love it..

    4. craftsteak at the MGM.. had my bday dinner there last year..
    5. grab drinks and dessert and catch the fountain shows from the eiffel tower.. take the elevator up get some classy booze and enjoy.. kick back..

    6. check out the hilton sports book.. one of the most important books in vegas

    7. avoid old vegas.. if you are doing the Hoover damm tour and all that other stuff.. then don't bother with this part of town.. its run down ..

    8. go to a pool party at WetRepublic..

    9. if you can check out the pool at the mandalay bay.. its much better then the planet hollywood one. its a full beach with wave pool..

    10. avoid the hooker cards the mexicans hand you the strip..

    11. tip on your free drinks.. make sure to tip big on your first drink if you plan on playing there awhile.. this will keep them coming back quick

    12. avoid.. the vegas buffets.. there is much better food.. don't spend 30-50 on a ton of crap.. spend 50 bucks on one amazing dish instead..

    13. check out the daily sit and go at the venetian.. they usually have a ton

    14. there is a 24hour 45$ sit and go at Oshea's Casino on the strip.. get your poker fix..i never play poker in vegas though.. usually with too many people..

pm me if you want to know anything else.. i have missed tons of shit..

Take a cab from the airport to your hotel instead or the shuttle buses. I stayed at planet hollywood and the shuttle took 50 mins to get there. Stopped at 20 other hotels first. A cab ride is 7 mins.

Sounds like you planned it out well my friend...Money management as most suggested, do what you have planned, and entertain some of the suggestions by kmarinouofm.

If your are planning to get a broad for the evening I would do so with an ultra clear mind beforehand. Negotiate terms before anything happens.

MUST DO: Go to Ellis Island for baby back ribs. Some of the best ribs you will ever eat in your entire life. They also brew their own beers....they have a complete line-up of pale, dark, hefeweizen all for $1 a pint. For something like 15.99 you get a full slab of the best ribs youve ever had, side of slaw, baked beans, bread. Make sure you get the Ellis Island players card to drop that 15.99 price down to 13.99. Nobody knows about this place except for the locals and the cab drivers. It is truly a hidden gem that you must go to. Make sure to check the hours before going because the place has weird operating hours. If nothing else go to Ellis for the ribs

Will be in Vegas in a few weeks. Flying in the 28th for the UFC and leaving first thing in the morning... Anymore than 16 hours in that place it starts to get to me. I think Vegas is a shit hole, it's all the same shit.... I just go for the fights.. I love to gamble but I do that from the comfort of my home... I guess it's different when it's only a 49 minute plane.... Have fun and don't lose a lot of money.

Yeah sort of. 2 minute walk down the block. It's at the corner of that big intersection on East Flamingo Road.

"The only things I have planned so far are the following:"

RedSox - I've been there about 20 times and have only done maybe one of these lol - I like the aggressive planning! ... and almost a full week in Vegas is very impressive.

I'll be at PH Thursday to Monday - I'm a bit worried because it hasn't gotten great reviews - I'll be with a bunch of degenerates but it should be a good time - maybe I'll bump into you

Not sure about other buffets, but the Bellagio buffet $29 - $34 is well worth it. Excellent food and a ton of selection.

and avoid the tunnel. Not sure if a cab driver would take the long way (Tunnel) to get to your hotel (PH) or not. Someone here can likely confirm.

skio the grand canyon helicopter tour...you don't have enough time for all this sightseeing...combine the hoover dam with a trip into henderson casinos...by all means do not go to laughlin...no las vegas isn't that bad. spend about 3 hours up there at some local hangouts...sounds like you will be too busy playing poker tournaments anyway to do too much.. make sure you eat at an in and out burger if you haven't ever done it...

Been to Vegas many times, never been to Ellis Island--going next Sun-Wed, gonna try it.

Got comped at Aria. Been in there once, was too stuffy for me--I'm a shorts/t-shirt guy. But I heard the rooms are nice. The wife and I going, she'll prolly like it.

I know you probably don't want to spend $50 for a cab to get to another casino but Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch are our hang outs. Both real nice. Usually stay at GVR but got the Aria offer so we'll try it.

The last couple times we went we hit Brad Garretts Comedy Club @ Tropicana. The 1st time Brad Garrett was there. The next time was some dude that had me in tears. He gets some quality guys in there. If you need 1.5 hours to get away from the casino, hit this place up one night. It's only $30-$35 and it's some quality comedy.

    GL and Have fun!

All good suggestions - Ellis Island is a nice stop - The Brew Pub in the Monte Carlo is a great place to watch sports, tons of TVS, lots of Microbrews on tap, drink specials, and right around the corner from the sportsbook. Also if you want to go to a show, then check out Tix 4 Tonight - outside the MGM they have half price show tickets on the day of the show.
