Ron Artest would destroy anyone else in the league.

Call him crazy or call him tough but it's a fact. Hard to believe he hasn't been mentioned.

Really hard to say that any player on the lakers is tough. I think people are mis-interpreting what tough means. Being tough means in part that you also have heart. I question mark all the players on the lakers toughness and heart, except #24

Artest is one of the best individal defensive players in the league. That's the definition of heart.

So does Kobe get a pass for quitting in the elimination game against Phx a few years ago because he ws wearing #8?

    Talk about a misinterpretation.

Not sold on Artest as the toughest player in the league. "Tough guys" don't attack 170 pound fans

Artest will attack anyone. Is it right? Obviously not but it's not like he's KG who only picks on little guys and foreigners.

    Ron Arest and Stephen Jackson.

Real tough guys go into the stands and punch NBA fans. End of debate.

He is no longer an elite defender. 5 Years ago he was the best defender in the NBA hands down. Ever since the battle in the palace where he went into the stands, Artest hasn't been the same player.

At one point in his career he was a top 10 player and the best NBA defender.

i think alot of people in this thread have different definitions of tough

pretending to be hurt and still play is not tough in my books.
over reacting and then walking it off is not tough
getting beat up easily is not being tough

clearly seeing how someone got hurt, especially without the slow mo cam, and knowing, no doubt that hurt (like rondo last game) and then continuing to play. yea thats tough.
players who are just bruisers, that go in there and play rough and aggressive. that is tough to me.

players who take a beating and keep coming, a different type of tough

more than half the league is sissies who over react and many times you cant even see the injury.

I think Ginobili is a tough dude too...I'm not a fan, but I respect him...dude never slows up or backs down...dude is wild, and goes hard on both ends of the floor

If we're talking about fearless to the hoop? Regardless of complaining. I'd say Lebron, Wade, Rose, Westbrook. They take some pretty hard collisions. Heart: Manu, Kobe, Rondo. Brute Strength? No one.

rasheed obviously retired last year. but it's recent so i felt like nominating him. Artest used to be tough but i think therapy, his agents, managerr, etc. calmed him down after he got suspended the whole season for punching the fan.
