Maybe its just me but the level at which djokovic played at today could be higher than what federer did in his prime. Hopefully he can maintain it. The best part for joker here is that if this match would have been played at a slower clay court he would have probably still won because he won many points by outlasting nadal in grueling points.

The only downside for Novak today is that this trophy is the most hideous thing I have ever seen. I suspect he tosses it in the trash on the way out the stadium.

told you this will be an interesting match ... Nadal, Djokovic and Federer are the only ATP players who just play their game regardless of their oponent ... ofc, like any other player, they have good days and bad days ...

Take any other player (Soderling, Murray, Roddick, etc.) and put him in front of any of these 3 guys and he will start the match 80%-90% convinced that he will lose the game (maybe less with Federer atm)...

This was total domination by Nole, his backhand was brutal. Nadal struggled on every service game, Bellucci had that kick out serve to Djokovics forehand that caused him all sort of problems , it looked like Nadal didnt even pay attention to that match.

What an epic change in mens tennis, Nadal crushed on clay in Madrid.

Nole buried the king of clay into the clay of Madrid.

My heart was with him, and he did again, i am sorry i didnt put too much on this one.

i definately agree. i dont think there was another person on federers level when he took over. agassi and sampras were already near retirement. his best competition was maybe roddick?

joker is having to deal with both federer and nadal to win a tourney.
u got other people like sodering, berdych, ferrer, murray, del potro.
its crazy, not too long ago the dude was getting his ass whoooped by roddick, haah

I think the best shot for reasonable odds will be playing total games and or sets betting.\

Djoko can't beat Nadal on that surface.the max he can get here will be losing in 3 sets.
    Well, there it is.

Although this totally buried me (I'm down about 20 UNITS in this fkin tournament), have to take your hat off to Djokovic, the man is unstoppable right now. Wish I'd got on him for a French Open future.

Djokovic was a BEAST out there today. He even gifted a couple of breaks of serve to Nadal, yet still won in straight sets.

Still can't help but think that he'd have a harder time beating Nadal in a potential final in Rome. Conditions are a fair bit slower, meaning Nadal has more time to set himself up behind the baseline. Also, Djokovic would start to feel the effects of having won 2 titles in 2 weeks, and then potentially reaching another final in the 3rd week.

Djokovic isn't really known for his great stamina (infact, its the total opposite), so going for another 5 wins in Rome will be a MASSIVE test. If he does it, he's pretty much guaranteed to break J-Mac's streak, as he would only need to win the first 3 rounds at Roland Garros to take the record.

Though still a lot of work to be done by then.

I got burned by Djokovic's performance today, but he was just too good. Can't really argue against that.

Clay matches take a lot out of you
Its amazing he keeps winning or getting to all these finals

Djoker was crazy good. Nadal should have a much better chance in the French when they play best of 5 sets and the surface isn't so fast. Confidence is huge in tennis and Djoker has it right now...its pretty fun to watch. Nadal will be back though.

    Wrong.

    McEnroe = 42 match win streak in '84. Borg = 33 in '80.

    Djokovic = 32.

    Still impressive though.

    WRONG

Numbers do not mean anything, DoJO during this streak has beat one of greatest players of all times 3 straight times

Lets not forget he won us open too although not part of the streak

This is the greatest run ever

    lol JJ

Here's the Top 10. Go do some investigating. Considering you only pay attention to tennis in semis onwards of larger tournaments, you may be surprised.

    3 Björn Borg 43 1978
    4 John McEnroe 42 1984
    5 Roger Federer 41 2006-07
    6 Björn Borg 38 1979-80
    7 Thomas Muster 35 1995
    = Roger Federer 35 2005
    9 Novak Djokovic 32 2010-11
    10 Rafael Nadal 32 2008

    3-0 vs Nadal
    3-0 vs Federer
    1-0 vs Murray

All top opponents beaten during this streak.

Vijay Amritraj was one of the players to beat McEnroe that year

You won't see Novak lose to a player of that shitty calibre. McEnroe also only played 2 clay tourneys and skipped the Aussies...

Canucker, you're preaching to the choir here. I said in my thread 6 months ago that Djoko had appeared to finally have dealt with the mental issues that always held him back and was going to be tough to beat. Go investigate all of the others above Djoko and post your findings please. I look forward to your analysis.

Agreed Shari...wasn't trying to say anything else in my prior post. But the guy at top with 46 win streak bet a lot of amateur opponents.
