The biggest reason, IMHO, that people are pointing out concerns with this cascade effect of finishers is that the more the field is cut or if the regular winners get some sort of advantage at the final tourney, it will lessen the potential luck factor and therefore heighten the likelyhood of the better player winning this thing.
