Jordan is clearly better, but Kobe is close. Remeber, Jordan had Pippen. Who did Kobe have in this Series? Gasol? Odom? Bynum? Come on. Give Kobe Pippen and the Lakers for sure don't get swept and in fact make this interesting.

Kobe needs to be like Lebraun and go to somebody else's team. His Fakers are done. Too old and slow.

There are clips on youtube when Kobe played against Jordan in 98. Back then Jordan could not really cover Kobe. True Jordan is a better playoff player and better overall, but it's absurd to say that Jordan in 2001-2 is even as good as Kobe will be 2 years from now if he still wants to play.

Kobe got old real fast and Mike was recovering from knee surgeries when he played for the Wizards and still schooling these younger players.

Sure 23 had Pip , but thats pretty much all he had. I mean you can find spot up shooters in any era. Kobe had a top 10 player of all time on his team , in fact leading the show! Plus guys like Big Shot Bob , Fisher , Gasol , Odom , A.B. , Fox ... Kobe played w/ some very good players. After Pip , Grant 23 had no help on the O end ... at all. Kobe isnt close to 23 , sorry thats not even up for debate.

Kobe can't win without a dominant big man inside that lets him roam around on offense.

Jordan in the 87 and 88 seasons would have averaged 45 pts a game with the handchecking rules

I've been a Laker fan since the early 70's and I hate Jordan but Mike was better than Kobe is now.

What I don't hear much being said is that Jordan was a much better defensive player than Kobe ever has been.

Mike would never let his team lose by 40 in the playoffs

Kobe has done it twice in elimination games. Kobe is not Jordan. It never was close. Rose will be the closest to Mike anyway.

It is a team sport, and Mike's championship teams were all MUCH better than this Laker team. But it is true, for all of his bragging on his triangle offense, when things got tough Jackson always depended on Kobe to take over, just like he did with Michael.

people conveniently forget that kobe still has a broken finger, bum knee and ankle yet played more games than anyone the past 4 seasons.

they also forget that jordan without pippen never had a winning season (5 seasons), managed a meager 1-9 post season record and never won any major awards (no mvp, no all nba defense team, no defensive player of the year, no title).

if kobe had pippen (hof), rodman (hof), kerr (clutch), paxson (clutch), cartwright, longley, harper, kukoc and others, he wouldnt have been swept either.

even phil will admit this was the least talented team hes ever had that won a title.

crusty still defending a guy that only had 23/3/3 at age 32 in the playoffs. Pathetic.

Nice cherry picking stats. Year before, at 22, Kobe averages over 28ppg, yet you discount that for the following year because that was Jordan's CAREER best ppg average. Oh, and lets not forget that Jordan was Mr. Everything with the shitbox Bulls team that had a LOSING record. Who the F cares about ppg if you can't lead your team to victory?

Lets also keep in mind that Kobe, at 23, Kobe was not the "number one option" on offense because the Lakers had Shaq in his prime scoring close to 30 ppg (those Lakers championship teams worked "inside-outside"....which is why Shaq was the number one option).

It also took Jordan SEVEN years to win a title. By the time Kobe had been in the league seven years he ALREADY HAD THREE TITLES!

You can't dig at Kobe for having Shaq help lead the way to three early titles and then bang on Kobe for scoring less than Jordan did per game when Jordan was option one, two, and three on those shitty Bulls teams.

Is/was Kobe as good as Jordan? Nope. But, your stats/post are a complete joke.

Do you have any CLUE whatsoever as to how many NBA games Kobe, at age 32, has played when compared to other former/current NBA All-Stars around the same age? He came straight from high school and because the Lakers have played so damn many playoff games his body has logged WAY MORE minutes than his age indicates.

Some people hate blindly (and "dumbly").

Kobe's Supporting Cast has bailed him out much much more than Jordan's Supporting Cast did.

Rodman and Pippen had many subpar games in 97 and 98. Rodman had many games with 5 rebounds or less and Pippen struggled with his shot half of the games.

lol you just did what you accused me of doing earlier.

You say Kobe won more his first seven years, and did do the excuse that at 32 he has played many more games.

Always as the number one & two option in the Bulls offensive scheme. If Jordan had a teammate scoring close to 30ppg (as Shaq did) his numbers would be nowhere near what they are.

Again, not saying Kobe was/is as good as Jordan.
