Not a big fan of this either. I'd rather steal the blinds of autofolders than have them out of the tourney!

Why not just have them auto away after they miss their hand like most poker sites...

I think the pick up after 7 hands is bad. I would at least like 20 mind or leave them till they blind out. That's how every other internet/live tourney works.

You can fix the ghosts by only allowing SBRPROS to play and if not, then charge like 20 points to play for NONPROS. Not sure that the 10 point entry fee was enough since even NONPROS can get 6 points a day. They can play one hand of BJ and turn it into 10 points. Raise the fees for NONPROS to 20 points Lou.

maybe some of the NONPRO deadbeats will actually turn PRO

I agree. 7 hands is bullshit and can go by real quick if you have a bunch of folds. Raising the entry fees is not the fuk'in answer either! SBR supposedly solved the ghosts problem by not allowing point transfers of more than 2 a day. How are you going to attract and increase membership if you're jacking up fees just to play poker! Beerdog and others are right, you should allow late registration and if someone can't make it or has to be on auto fold, just let them blind out. A vast majority of the tourneys I've played in, everybody is there, rarely have I seen a bunch of no shows.

I like the 15min rule. Many of these tourneys are 60 players and less and go by fast. If someone is not actually there playing 15 mins into the tourney then kick them out and let the guys who are actually there play it out.

I was logged in and waiting for the midday tourney to start, not knowing about the new software kickout "feature" I walked out on the porch to talk with the wife and her sister. weather was good for a change, and conversation was pleasant. Not being in a big hurry, especially since the first table is usually filled with no shows and takes 30 minutes to play 10 hands, I enjoyed a few minutes with the family. I realized I was late and ran in to clear the screen saver on my laptop, but I was already booted just 10 minutes into tourney. oh well, better than auto-folders beating me in the tourney, and wasting all that time. I'm not bitching, just saying, give a heads up to rule or software changes in the future. I would be willing to bet that the change shaved an hour off the average free in saturday tourney time.

If you click auto-fold at anytime during the tourney though, you should never be kicked.
15-20 minutes the blinds are so high anyway u'll be damn near blinded. The whole tourny lasts like an hour. Being 15 minutes last means u missed 1/4 of it seems fair....

Wait, if you fold the first 7 hands it will log you off? What is the software doing to determine whether or not someone isn't physically at a table? Timed out and autofold? Not logged into the software? If it's because you haven't played in 7 hands that's a problem.

Another question is what happens to players chips after a player is kicked off?

i agree with the majority here that 15 minutes is a lot more fair than 7 hands.
(if you have to do a software update or get frozen). i certainly haven't been the only one that was on time and wasn't allowed to play because of software issues which would've been cleared up within 15 minutes but not within 7 hands.

also i agree that when you click "away" for 7 hands that shouldn't disqualify you. more than a few times i click that to focus on the game i'm watching if it gets interesting, or go grab a drink, etc.

I believe SBR is defining a ghost as someone who has made no action in the first 7 hands (or 15mins if it changes). No action, means no folds, calls, checks, etc.

I would assume clicking auto-fold would constitute an action and therefore would not be included in the ghost removal.

    Cheers

Its a matter of courtesy to all the other Player to be on Time,
if for some reason something happened that you had no control
over, mabe we should raise the time Limited to max. 15 minutes,
after that you Shit out of Luck, I am sure we all expienced at one
time being locked out by a store, Bank etc, when trying to get in
to get something and they closed the Doors a few minutes earlier.
There has to be a limit set, otherwise everyone would ask for
just 1 more minute, 2 more minutes, 3 more minutes and on and on
it would never please everyone, so SBR set a time Limit, notefy
posted and thats it, stop complaining

Raise the entry fee to 20. Oh noes you have to log in three days in a row and post to be able to play for a free 10k wsop seat. So unrealistic... hahaha Hint : if you don't wanna pay the 20 points, deposit in a sponsors book and stop being a whining fukin freeloader.

Why not just open registration right before the tournament starts (say 15-30 minutes)? Not that much of an issue with the one's with unlimited spots but during the ones on weekdays currently 30 people get to play so spots are still getting taken by people not showing up...

I agree Ireland. I can't believe people think they are entitled to play after showing up late. It's not like it's a sporting event where they paid for a ticket.

I always log in at least 20 minutes before the tournament starts in case I need to update the version of software.
