Question regarding gambling in the US

Right, I'd like something cleared up if possible. In any state in the US is having a few friends over for and say putting $50 in a pot each and play a poker game technically illegal?

I ask because someone said it at a poker game we had the other night and I've also seen it on tv, where someone walks in on a poker game in a house and states "illegal gambling, in my house"

So, is there any truth to this or what?

yes, but it depends how he enters your house. A cop can't kick your door down without a warrant or reasonable cause.

Yes it is illegal. Religious entities in the US still have enough clout to blackmail politicians into enforcing their beliefs onto everybody in this "free" country.
