    Hockey Playoffs Wide Open

80% of teams are dead even

Maybe Vancouver and Wash a little better but they will not both be in finals

How do you handicap this stuff??

Philly was an #8 seed last year and made the final. Cup will be wide open again this year.

I picked up majority of the playoff teams at 40-1 to 125 to 1 odds. So hoping for the usual hockey upsets.

playoff series are great, look for shady lines. Books know what's up

If any of these "faves" are under -200, just take the dog. Not talking about the 4/5 seeds.

Agreed, dogs are the way to go.

Montreal and Tampa are the best dogs IMO. And Maybe buffalo.

I like the big 3 fav in the west.

LA is the only dog i'd take in the west if the price is right.

    Vancouver and Washington are better

Depending on the odds offered, I will try to bet them at every opportunity.

I like Canucks to win right now... but we gotta see who can get hot. If Detroit gets their injuries fixed they could easily get hot.

Either way lets watch those totals drop to 5 and have some fun

JJ doesn't know a single thing about hockey or betting it. You can cap all these games all day long and it still won't help you. As easy as it sounds you just have to understand the league and which players make an impact in certain game situations. Tough to explain but it works for me.

I'm got WAS vs ANA for the cup @ 50 to 1, is that good odds?? Now I think about it, it seems kinda low. wonder if it is because I use a local?

Wash are definitely better but it's going to be Philly that wins the east, not entirely sure on the west yet, anaheim has a shot.
I actually disagree though, this year is actually a lot easier to cap than last season, higher seeds are looking really good.
    First round winners:
    WASH, BOS, TB, PHI
    VAN, DET, SJ, ANA.

LA, woulda had a shot, but losing williams and their top scorer anze kopitar just means they're not deep enough up front. Don't get why everyone thinks buf has a shot, this philly team is an absolute monster, even without pronger and with a disadvantage in net, they are wayyyyy too much for buffalo to handle, as much as i want buf to win.

anyone wanna discuss these pics? gotta get rdy to jump on early lines, and would like to hear what others think!

I dunno about philly walking in, and not just because I'm a buffalo fan. To me, Montreal has the most value in the east. If Tampa can get their scorers hot it could be ugly too but I wouldn't start out betting tampa, they're too small and too streaky bet outright in my opinion. Vancover obviously looks like the best to me personally so far. And Anaheim has some rough defense though a relatively big team, so depending on lines very likely to go opposite Ducks. Despite the Wings being streaky for the majority of the season they're a good team with a lot of leadership also could be great value on them.

Agreed with wings, altho I doubt there will be much value in the odds against coyotes unfortunately. Not sold on Montreal at all, altho price can always steal a game, i think boston is the quintessential all-around team, and montreal just are not as talented in any aspect. You're right too, tampa-pitt is up in the air, tough call but doesnt look like crosby back, and st.louis, lecavalier and stamkos are downright scary. As for Anaheim though, I'm really really confident they win that series, goaltending is their only issue, but with guys like selanne, perry, getzlaf, ryan..just cant see nashville having enough firepower to match them (though i really do like nashville's jerseys).

Even though they are the chalk Vancouvor is just a step better then the rest, as much as it pains me to say that as a Wings fan.

As far as the eastern conf. that seems to be a bit more wide open but i like the Bruins to come out of the eastern.

Heres the odds as of now but mind you these are from a shitbook(sbgglobal).

Odds to win 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs
    Vancouver Canucks 3/1
    Washington Capitals 5/1
    Detroit Red Wings 6/1
    Philadelphia Flyers 6/1
    Boston Bruins 7/1
    San Jose Sharks 8/1
    Pittsburgh Penguins 10/1
    Chicago Blackhawks 12/1
    Los Angeles Kings 25/1
    Nashville Predators 25/1
    Tampa Bay Lightning 25/1
    Buffalo Sabres 25/1
    New York Rangers 30/1
    Anaheim Ducks 30/1
    Phoenix Coyotes 30/1
    Montreal Canadiens 30/1
