Anyone else here familiar with H.R. 1174 in Congress?
Basically it's a bipartisan bill introduced last month by 2 Republicans and 2 Democrats that was recently referred to a subcommittee on 4 April that would tweak the existing law by allowing U.S. players to play online but the catch is: Dept of Treasury will regulate it (tax man gets his cut) and 'any previous company who illegally accepted U.S. funds to aid players will be exempt from taking future deposits' thereby pretty much wiping clean the old system and a creating new one. It's not the best idea to me, but hey, if it allows us to pay some poker again...let's roll.
I think the past weeks indictments against 'the big 3' was a step to set an example that the govt will be in charge from here out, and just step out of the way and let them regulate play....any thoughts?
