Moderate a dispute between ThaddeusB and Me

Here is the thread where I bet on UConn with him:

    http://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/players-ta...n-backers.html

    Here is our sticking point:

"To place a wager, you must deposit into my low juice pointsbook, but for convenience you can do that in this thread. I am also offering a 25% freeplay deposit bonus currently which can be combined with the special line, if you like. Please see the pointsbook thread and the latest special line post for full details on this promo. (Please note there is a small rollover requirement.)"

I read this as there would be a rollover on the 25% freeplay deposit bonus. I read the link he posted before I made my bet and it didn't say anything about a rollover.

I don't go into the points forum that often. If I want to bet points it is usually at the SBR book or a thread in PT. The 200 points isn't that big of a deal to me. I win big and lose big with betpoints. Think I dropped @ 600 on NBA and the casino last night. If I wanted to play at his book, I would deposit and play there. I don't like being forced to.

Let me know if I am just looking at this the wrong way, and he can keep the 200. If you think I am right, I would hope he would pay what I won.

Here are our PM's 3 days after I won:

You are correct that it wasn't mentioned in the post within my book thread (a minor oversight), but you didn't find the the offer based on that post and the people who play at my book were familiar with the rollover requirement from the other 20 special lines I offered.

The special line was offered as a promotion for my book. I am sorry you failed to read the rules, but that doesn't make them go away. I will return your deposit if you like, but if you want the bet to stand you have to abide by the terms of the bet, which means meeting a 2X rollover.

    National Championship Special Line

As promised, I am continuing my March Madness long tradition of offering a special line every day. Today's value will be offered to Connecticut backers. I'm going to offer everyone the option of money line or spread today. You can split your bet between the two or take one - either way the limit is to win 100.

Spread (compare to -3 or -3.5):
    Connecticut -2 (+100)
    Butler +2 (+100)

    Money Line (compare to -165):
    Connecticut -145
    Butler +145

I'll also offer the following "reversed line" which can be taken irregardless of whether you bet on the above or not:

    Butler -3 (+180)
    Connecticut +3 (-230)

Max wager on this one is 100 to win 180 on Butler or 230 to win 100 on Connecticut.

If you any any questions, please ask and Go Butler!

As per the terms of the offer, you have to meet a 2X rollover on your winnings before you can withdraw. If you bet regularly, you are better off doing so with me as 5dimes lines almost always beat SBR's. The better lines will save you a lot of points in the long run. However, once rollover is met you are free to withdraw if you so choose.

    Thanks for playing,
    Thaddeus

Risked 100 to win 100. I can bump the thread again if you don't remember.

As someone who has cashed out thousands from Thad, and deposited way less, he's been completely fair the entire time. His rules regarding rollover on the special lines (2X, winnings only) were pretty clear on every post I looked at regarding them. Personally, I recommend you stay and play with him anyways because of the much better lines offered compared to the SBR book.

Thanks for your opinion Mattmc419. I am sure the rules are clear to someone that plays with him on a regular basis. This thread was in PT and the only mention was quoted above. That doesn't seem clear to me.

Standard to have to roll over any promo or bonus offers. 2x is nothing compared to the hoops some joints make you jump through.

The standard has nothing to do with the thread he posted in PT. We're talking about $1.20 here. You can't compare it to real books. This is just principle to me.

We have to compare it to real books. How else do we determine what the standard of business is?

I was relating it to something like this from the front page of Bookmaker.com. If you were to make your deposit based on this add alone, you would think that the money was yours to cash out when you please. Only when digging around a little or when you try to cash out, do you find out that there is like a 20x rollover posted in a different location pertaining to this offer you accepted.

    Thank you for the points.

I agree Hotstreak, that's why I thought the 25% freeplay had the rollover requirement. Just like all other books. They don't make me rollover winnings if I take no bonus when I deposit.

If the thread you posted in didn't specifically state it or direct you to a thread which did, I believe you are right.

He usually mentions the 2x rollover. Maybe he forgot to mention it here, but he's always had the requirement and it makes sense. Places aren't going to let you have a special line that's a point or more off the market without requiring you to roll it over.

A special line is similar to a bonus. It's given in the hopes you will play there otherwise.

This. I think its on Thad to make sure his players are aware of the rollover (especially when advertising in PT), but its not unreasonable for him to withhold it.

Just make another bet with him... he offers all of 5Dimes lines, I believe, so there are more options than SBRs book and he'll definitely pay once you hit rollover

Thanks for the reply Yisman. I know you bet it too. I have bet several special lines in PT with different posters. That is normally the only time I will bet with posters. Most offer it because they like the other side. Thad made it clear he was pulling for Butler.

    Its simple

    Stop being a d1ck.

Thad is a cool guy and his rules are pretty straightforward. Also
He provides an excellent service to SBR with his pointsbook.

    Good luck.

I've never used Thadd's book before, but after reading the description posted about the Special Line and requirements for deposit/rollover it all seems pretty clear. I would just chalk this one up to a learning experience and continue using his sportsbook. Everything I've read/heard about his operation seems pretty top notch. Goodluck!
