I am here to tell you that ANY EMS personel in the world will tell you:

NOBODY IS PRONOUNCED DEAD IN THE BACK OF THE AMBULANCE!!!!!

EMS begin CPR on site. They scoop and run, getting the patient in the ambulance as quickly as possible. They send EKG telemitry to the ER. They run ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) protocols in communication with the ER. They continue CPR (manually or with the thumper) and ACLS until they get to the ER. The ER staff runs takes over at that point and continues ACLS until the attending physician calls the code and pronounces the patient dead.

And that's what really happens...

Now, I'm going to give you a chance to prove me wrong. Here's what I'll do:
You post a link to the newspaper that has your grandmother's name obit in it with your name listed as a surviving relative and I'll apologize here on SBR and I'll make a $100 donation to the American Heart Association in your grandmothers name.
