Below are the original concepts by Dave Malinsky for Point Blank ....these ideas were how Dave viewed the SBR original column.

Point Blank Logo Notions:

Here are some random thoughts
about both the concept, and putting together a logo that helps to set the tone
(from several years of kicking it around) –

PB “sense of place” =
Literate, subtle, a hint of mystery and mastery. Weathered, but optimistic. Timeless,
as opposed to trendy. Unfashionable not by choice, but by disavowing fashion as
being a genuine notion. Eternal, rather than contemporary. Mild breezes because
life requires those; but calmness in heavy wind. Steady breathing to better
understand the magnitudes of both success and failure. Everyone is welcome, but
you have to wipe your feet on the mat first. Dignity is encouraged; expression
is encouraged; language is encouraged (a no-emoji zone). Not a place that you
visit, but a place that you become a part of.

If you envisioned the author
you would expect:

College professor walking
across a campus in jeans; classy/casual, but not cowboy, boots; single-tone
long-sleeve t-shirt or sweater, depending on the weather (absolutely no shirt
with buttons and never a tie); light casual blazer that could be tweed or
corduroy. None of the clothing looks new; all of it appears comfortable; the
blazer has been worn for a long time...
