There's a line between being a parent and friend. Our generation is a bit different than our parents and I try to keep a very open mind and try to objectively remember what it was like at that age or around there.

What I mean is that people tend to remember their past as being better people than they really are. Psychologists liken it to a butterfly. Adults look back at their cocoon times but often remember themselves as butterflies.

I'll try to remember that those were cocoon times and we weren't always pretty, elegant butterflies. We were growing and learning.
