Eat/drink out less. I go out quite a bit but I'm going to try and cut it down in 2016 which would save me an extra $300/mo easily.

Gas is expensed by my job but if you have a car that is a gas guzzler look into a car that is more gas friendly.

Rent is a bitch here so look to split with a roommate/gf to save on costs.

No need for lavish items but stuff like a cellphone, laptop, tv are basically necessary so if you're going to get them just get good quality and pay the VIG because they should last a few years.

Work online a few extra hours if you really need to. Check out www.reddit.com/workonline and look to the right where it says sites I can make 6$+ an hr from. I've personally never tried it but it seems to work. www.reddit.com/r/mturk is a popular one.
