So he didn't inherit a few hundred million, then go deep into debt and require help from the banks while in the negative?

He didn't inherit a few hundred million where did you here that?
Who was he inheriting these sums from, His father passed away
when Don Trump was already a billionaire I think he was over 50
when Fred Trump died. Fred Trump had 4 or 5 children so I imagine though
I'm not sure that he left most of his money to his children who
were less fortunate than Don was.

When I knew Trump we had both recently graduated from top notch colleges,
I quickly found out the his father had built the largest complex in Brooklyn
Trump village, when we'd drive around Manhatten every big building we passed
he could identify the owners of each one. I imagined he was gearing up for
a real estate career. It was 69-71 when we knew each other Maxwell Plum's
at 63rd & 1st was the best singles bar & Trump or myself were always
there before 10 on Friday nights.

I'd say this, I got married in 71 & lost contact but I believe Trump's father
enjoyed doing business in Queens & Brooklyn being a 'big fish in a little
pool' & when Don intruded into Manhatten he persuded his father to bankroll him
or get financing for him to get him started, & then Trump skyrocketed to fame &
fortune. I was not surprised when 4 or 5 years after my last contact with him
he more or less became a household name.

He was a good guy, fun to be around, never drank or smoked & he was the only guy
I ever allowed to fix me up with, he had good taste in women! And as for of this
'draft dodger' lable you attached to him, wow. When I graduated college 66 they're
were a few ways to go 1) RA join up 2) US drafted 3) go to Canada 4)
join the National Guard which I did. Trump had a student deferrment up till 69 &
I don't know what happened thereafter but I know this Trump & I would often support
the war effort in discussions with other patrons of Maxwell's some of which were actually
hoping for the Viet Con to defeat the US. I think I knew Trump well enough then to say
that if the only choices were go fight in Nam or hit the road for Canada we both would
have went to Asia fortunately there were other choices.
